This game has problems, specifically in performance/visual fidelity/feedback to player interaction (specifically Melee hits feel a bit janky, I have been spoiled by more modern VR titles), but it was from the earlier generation of VR games. When it works, it is super fun and a unique experience yet unreplicated in VR.
specifically because unlike most VR shooters, it lets you fully disable comfort options to do crazy stuff like backflips off walls, which is the coolest thing ever for someone like me who does not experience motion sickness at all.

Unfortunately, the netcode is kind of broken so even if you have a ping of 30 to each other, it looks and feels super janky, so do not get the game for it's multiplayer component.

I really really hope this game gets a sequel, but after 6 years I am not expecting it.
If you wanna feel like scifi max payne (but with less story focus), the game is still worth it, ESPECIALLY on a sale.

One of my first and still favorite VR games.

Played this in all Playtests, played a lot on console, this game is just fun and my favorite shooter to come out since Titanfall 2.
Not without flaws, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is it so many things I wanted in a shooter since childhood.
The destruction is probably the best thing, especially when the baseline is multiplayer shooters, where this has usually fallen flat. Everything that you think is destructible is, it breaks in ways you expect, and unlike games like battlefield, just being in the proximity of breaking structures doesn't just instakill you, as long as you don't get crushed or hit.

Aside from that, satisfying gunplay, a very fun set of tools to experiment and strategize with, a very pretty game aside from the player models which are..."eh" at best and probably the best gamemode idea I have seen in a while. Cashout does not reinvent the wheel, but the format for both quickplay and tournament (the game's ranked mode), gives you the stakes and excitement of a battle royale, but without the downtime.

However, playing this game solo with no comms can and will be frustrating at times. This game is designed for you to work as a squad, so not doing so will limit what you can do. You can still absolutely do a lot as an individual in a fight, but some situations just require teamwork, as it should in a squad based game. Every class has fun, annoying and useless stuff, I think it will be quite a while till I get tired of it.

Only thing that needs improvement FAST is the Anti Cheat and the Las Vegas map. unless you play Heavy, Las Vegas sucks, half the gadgets are made for vertical play which that map does not allow at all with the positioning of the cashout stations. Cheaters I have not encountered in quickplay, but considering this is a shooter, expect to run into them sooner or later in tournament mode. Some improvements I'd like to see over time is the UI (it is very barebones), killcams and other tools that help confirm a cheater so reports are more accurate and maybe a liiiittle more freedom in what you can bring in reserve. Being able to swap to at least one secondary ability would be nice and not completely revamp a squads composition.

Anyways, great game, play it (with friends if you have any, if not, make some. The official discord has some friendly people).

A subscription model for an aim trainer that heavily relies on user made content is crazy.
That it costs as much as it does, is even more crazy.
New cool features are awesome.
Paywalling them is also fine when a considerable amount of development time went into them.
But make it a one time payment, or a very small subscription. 10 bucks a months is a wild ask to make, and that the short insights like tendencies, as janky as they were, are now paywalled when they previously weren't is just a little much.
10 bucks a month is:
- almost as much as netflix or gamepass
- almost as much as spotify premium
- as much as games like Trackmania cost in a year

Devs gotta make money, I get that. Just not like this.
Not everything needs a subscription.

It's fun, more difficult to drive than previous years.

Update: Patch 1.05 did NOT fix the tracking issues.

However, one of the main reasons I was excited for the game, the VR Mode, is unplayable.
Tracking does not work and lags after your head movement, the framerate is tanking on even the lowest settings for no apparent reason.
Other Racing games in VR are no Problem. AC with mods, ACC, Project Cars 2, but nah F1 22 does not work at all.

Will change review to positive as I enjoy the game a lot in normal desktop mode, however don't expect many changes aside from the new handling model.
The game overall probably needs a few patches before it can really be recommended.

How did I not write a review of this game earlier?

This is my favorite VR game, by far. It's gonna stay that way for a while.
It's not just a fancy tech demo.
It's an actual big game with real content, a full storymode, plenty of funmodes and challenges and an incredible (but not perfect) physics system.
If you can think you can do something in this game, the game let's you do it.
There are no wrong answers and I love that.
You can catch a crablet, beat a nullbodies head with it, get your John Wick up and go for tactical double taps while doing melee moves, you can hang off a ledge with one hand and do pistol headshots with the other, the freedom feels endless in how you tackle situations both in and out of combat.
If you want to play serious and tactical, using the best guns available or beat the entire game with just a trashcan lid as your weapon, the game let's you do it.

Even in closed levels there is plenty to explore and you get rewarded for it, the combat is the most intense fun I had in singleplayer VR and the platforming feels nice, but you can jank things out sometimes, which definitely get's worse on lower framerates if your PC is on the lower end of VR like mine.

It is the most immersive and fun experience I had and I genuinely felt the wonder of playing videogames for the first time again in this. When people talk about the potential of VR, this was the new baseline from the moment it released. It even got plenty of big updates months later, even if they have slowed down now. It is the most non mod content I had in a VR game for a basically unbeatable pricepoint, even when not on sale.

If you own VR, you owe yourself to at least give this game a try.

Big disclaimer though, this game has an "expert VR" warning for a reason, and they do mean it.
If you experience motion sickness easily, you will have to work your way up to playing this game.
There are plenty of comfort options, but also the ability to turn them off, which I appreciate because I do not feel Motion sickness in VR.

Stress Level Zero is a Studio that really is willing to experiment and commit to VR as a technology which I just appreciate a lot. They're not pretending like the limitations aren't there, the game is designed WITH the limitations, but also possibilities of VR in mind.

It is 25€, this is the cheaper end of VR and I can tell you already it outclasses every single game above it's pricepoint. If this had Multiplayer this would be the perfect VR game for this generation of the tech. As it is right now though it is "only" the absolute best Singleplayer Experience.

A fantastic game held back by slight jank and just bad netcode.
Loved the few hours I had with the singleplayer content of the game and playing with friends, but the amazing combat system gets drowned out by teleporting opponents getting randomly attacked by someone with a much more progressed character while you try to complete the main objective.

It is as close as we're gonna get for now when it comes to a true 3D fighting game though and that is something worth looking into.
On a sale, yes definitely. for a full 30€ there is just not enough content or the online infrastructure for it.
Definitely a project worthy of a sequel or big update/DLC in my opinion and I hope to see it some day.

*This is kind of a recommendation, but also a slight warning*

This one is a little difficult.
You might look at my playtime and see I have not spent a lot of time with this game, well that's because there isn't a lot.

The people who made this obviously care a lot about karting and I can say the physics are the best ones you will get for this sort of vehicle at least to my knowledge.

Karts accelerate, brake, turn and slide how you would expect.
My IRL Karting experience is fairly limited but I can say this game feels as close as it get's currently which is awesome!
Even on a controller you get a pretty good karting feeling going as long as you keep steering assist enabled, controller is unplayable without it (It is actually a good assist though!).

The problem this game has is a severe lack of content, there is almost nothing to keep you around aside from Time Trial on 5/6 tracks (one in reverse) as it is right now.

I got the game on a good deal through humblebundle, 18 bucks is kind of a lot for what it is currently.

Again, you can tell they spent a lot of time on physics and feeling, however this does not excuse the severe lack of content.
There is no career mode, you can race against pretty bad AI (to be fair, AI for racing games is probably the hardest genre you can have to develop) and multiplayer is unavailable, and only getting tested through email invitations.

For a game that has been on steam since 2018 that is a bit of a redflag, considering how slow the update progress is.

I personally say buy it on a good sale or in case it shows up on a platform as humblebundle for a good deal, full price?
I want to say yes, but I can't. This game feels like it could be something super special to karting fans but it just really isn't there yet.

If you want the feeling of having a well known karting track all to your own for a little bit and have money to spare, get it.
If you're looking for a RACING experience and not just qualifying/time trial, keep the game on your watchlist and wait for more updates and a sale.

The core gameplay is an absolute blast.

While the price can seem fairly steep at first, you have to consider we're talking about VR games.
this one definitely offers enough content already to justify it's price point when you put it into context.

When you figure out how to do things after the tutorial it can generate an incredible feeling of fun Flow with only very minor issues in the way of the fun.
What the game lacks right now is a tiny bit of more polishing and more content.
The Arena mode is probably the best thing by far. You get put into a small more open map and you complete objectives while trying to stay alive, it's great!
Movement is really good for the limitations VR has, it just needs that tiny bit of tweaking. For example the running motion can awkwardly conflict with the jumping motion. An option to conserve some momentum would be great because forcefully pulling your arms up feels a bit weird especially when it stops all your momentum.
Alternative motion methods or a "relaxed mode" where you don't need to swing your arms would be great as I can definitely see it as a possibility for some people to get tired fast in this game.

I really really hope this game gets some more goood updates.
Right now it's what I'd like out of early access : The game works well with only minor issues in the way, but what needs to get here is more content which can be easily achieved with some content updates as it has been the case so far according to the update history.

Make Sliding a little faster and possible outside of certain obstacles though pleaseee!

Can't wait to see what the game has in store in the future!

This is very much a first impression but i bought the game on sale and it already was definitely worth it.
There's plenty of fun to be had, it's a good rhythm game alternative to Beat Saber that actually feels refined unlike some other ones that popped up quickly.

Now that there are custom Songs even more of a reason to stick around, even for the full 12,50 i would say the game is 100% worth it for the standard content itself.
If you are into rhythm games and most importantly electronic music, not much need to hesitate. There's some depth to optimize scores, the new difficulty is really challenging (Pro is very much doable on good scores for me as a newbie to the game, so having something to work towards is great in form of extreme difficulty.)

It's a no bs rhythm game, videos show you what you can expect.
It runs perfect for me on the Oculus Rift S so i'm looking forward to plenty of more time with this one!
