It's a game that feels good at some parts and worse at others, I liked FNV more, but this game is also pretty fun. I usually come back to it, kinda like an addict, I have phases where I'll just binge Fallout. Settlement building is fun, but you'll spend most of your time looking for materials, so it can get annoying (I swear i feel like someone is stealing my adhesive lol). I loved the DLCs, so buying the GOTY edition will really enhance the game. All in all, just buy this game on sale, and have fun with it.

EDIT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is now 2024, and the Fallout hype has reconsumed the world. I finally 100% New Vegas, and admittedly burned myself out. I came back to this game, and was pleasantly surprised at how fun this game is. Lots of bugs, and I know the new update destroyed the modding community, and I never really cared just cause I was all about those achievements.

The Sole Survivor character makes it a little harder to self insert, because they have their own voicelines, but I feel like both the VAs did a relatively good job. I personally play as my own gender (male), but I just finished a playthrough with Nora and her VA did a great job! I also like how I noticed she sometimes adds in a little bit of her own bits in some of the dialogue.

I know the dialogue is a big hurdle for a lot of older Fallout fans, but I think it was fine. I am a bit sad that they changed some of the enemies (I would`ve preferred centaurs to mutant hounds, and deathclaws being a cakewalk) and such, and some of the guns doesn`t really feel good, as well as the ammo type being hard to come by (looking at you Assault Rifle ( ̄^ ̄) )

Settlement system is kind of fun, but it does become a chore when you have to scavenge for supplies all the time. I spent too much time searching for aluminum in my Nora playthrough.

All in all, I understand the hate, because as a fallout game it doesn't really feel like its Fallout, but I also think its a good game for the casual modern gamer to get used to the open world apocalypse world, then move on to the other fallout games as they become more invested into the lore.

Solid 7.5/10
