Edit 9/9/2023: I came back to this game and it's in the worst state so far. I would not recommend buying Battlefield 5 in 2023. The game crashes frequently. Cheaters are absolutely rampant, and the servers are mostly dead. You might find one or two games with low enough ping, and then they'll be filled with cheaters or squads of veteran players rolling through win after win. Save your money, Battlefield V is over.

This game could be great, but cheaters ruin it consistently. There's apparently no anti-cheat system whatsoever because you'll have multiple games in a row where the same guy goes 150-0, headshotting everyone with an aimbot. If EA would actually try to prevent cheating and fix some of the annoying issues that still exist (getting stuck in place as if there's a wall in front of you), this game would be as good as Battlefield 1 was in its heyday.

Another issue you'll run into frequently is lack of balancing. In Battlefield 1, teams would autobalance so you'd have a chance of winning. In Battlefield V, you'll lose multiple games in a row if the enemy team is particularly good. Now that there's few active servers, this becomes very irritating.

Edit: It seems to be getting worse. Cheaters will openly brag about it in the in-game chat, and about how easy it is to just make a new account for free when they get banned. Not sure why DICE abandoned this game because its better than 2042.

Edit a few weeks later: Cheating is getting even worse and more blatant. I don't know why I keep playing, honestly, except that when you finally get a game without cheaters, it's SO good. Tied with BF1 in my opinion. Its insane that DICE abandoned it so quickly.
