Bought the game during Alpha and i'm happy its finally released after 6 years. Cubeworld isn't quite the same as it was during the Alpha but I believe both have their pros and cons.

The big difference is that the current version is based on artifact and region progression with gear rather than exp. I've been enjoying this change but progression starts to feel linear when you get to new regions as artifacts only provide passive buffs and your gear becomes worthless until you find + gear which only works in neighbouring regions. I feel like this can be improved in the future with artifacts being more useful buffing health and stats like crit attack, regeneration, ect.

Exploration has been alot of fun once you get used to the new progression system. The map isn't procedurally generated but is actually one map that is almost infinite so you still get a unique experience from everyone else. With the 3d map you can zoom in close to see points of interest that you can add waypoints onto for later. Each region is different with chests hidden everywhere, some have arenas with unique bosses, and things affecting them like petrified towns, npc possession, and mana pumps.

One of the big Cons I had is there is no tutorial telling your class skills, no starting gear except for weapons, or what to do when you start which can be hard on new and old players. The first thing I recommend is to mark down a town and buy the available gear there. Activate any wayshrines you discover to reduce travel time as well, they're usually evenly spaced. And collect any resources you discover for crafting gear and potions, your inventory has unlimited space and is only limited to the stack of the item. I feel like the lack of tutorial needs to be fixed in the future with the starting region being the tutorial area or something.

In the end I feel like I could recommend this game, I feel like I got my moneys worth out of it. There is still lots of pros and cons that I have about the game but I feel like it has potential. The dev has said that he has lots of ideas for the future of Cubeworld so I look forward to what comes next
