This game is like one of those logic puzzle books except it has like 10 different types of logic puzzle, pretty artwork, and much better puzzle design

This is the first mode you see when you launch the game, and likely what is being sold to most players. It spoke to my heart in a way that very, very few works do, despite my brain considering it simply good but not great. From a technical perspective it is very flawed, both in terms of the game and the writing, in a way that is most painful for the first few hours. Trust me, it gets a little better throughout the game, and everything else gets a lot better. The one thing that was absolutely nailed, in my opinion, was the presentation: it's audio, visuals, and style are all immaculate. This part of the game took me about 10 hours.

This is the part of UNBEATABLE that can take much more time. The gameplay is probably best described as stylish taikomania. If you don't know what that means, it's a two button rhythm game that focuses on intricate rhythms switching between the two buttons to source most of its difficulty. The game itself and a lot of the systems around it are great. My only real complaint is that there is an achievement system which is the main way you unlock customization options and songs, but that system is often very obtuse for next to no reason.

Overall, I really really hope that this team makes more games after this. I feel like there is so much potential here for something genre-defining

This is a great puzzle game, focused on rule discovery and applying strict logic, but what really sets it apart for me is its quality of life features. It is one of very few puzzle games I've seen that has an undo and a redo, which makes reviewing previous positions a lot simpler when solving a puzzle. It also has a very high qol level select system, but even beginning to explain why would probably be a spoiler. My favorite qol feature, however, might be the rule discovery page, which tells you every weird quirk or interaction you have discovered, along with all of the ones relevant to the current puzzle and whether you need any you haven't found yet. This system helps keep Gentoo Rescue's novelty from becoming bloat, and also functions as a soft hint system for those who want it.

Speaking of which, the hint system in this game is amazing. Every level has multiple handwritten hints which not only take you from the very beginning of a chain of reasoning to just before the solution, if you desire it, but also by their construction teach you the sorts of logical thinking steps that can be used to deduce solutions yourself.

Good game. Better than first. Will be even more betterer later. Yes. Buy.

Very fun game. Especially good if you liked sekiro but wanted it to be 2d or slightly easier (don't worry sekiro fans, there's still some pretty hard stuff)
