The Casting of Frank Stone is the latest cinematic horror experience from Supermassive Games, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology series. Known for their interactive storytelling and gripping narratives, Supermassive Games has established themselves as leaders in the horror genre and a personal favourite of mine.

Set within the iconic world of Dead by Daylight, The Casting of Frank Stone follows a group of aspiring filmmakers in the town of Cedar Hills, shooting a horror movie based on the infamous killer, Frank Stone.

One of the most interesting aspects of The Casting of Frank Stone is to see the story between three distinct timelines: the 1960s, the 1980s, and the present day (2024). This temporal exploration adds a layer of complexity and intrigue to the narrative, as players unravel the interconnected events that span decades.

The Casting of Frank Stone leverages the power of Unreal Engine 5 to deliver stunning visuals. The game's environments are meticulously crafted with realistic textures, intricate details, and dynamic lighting. All the new techs are in... Ray tracing, etc. However, the demanding nature of Unreal Engine 5 can also be a double-edged sword. While the graphics are impressive, they can place a significant strain on PC hardware, leading to performance issues even on the most powerful systems. This is sadly true in the last few chapters, the stutters are constant removing some joy in the game play for sure! This game is in need of serious PC optimisation... seriously!

Key Features:

- Interactive Storytelling: Your choices shape the narrative, leading to multiple possible endings and branching storylines. The Cutting Room Floor feature allows you to replay specific scenes and change the narrative :)
- Cinematic Experience: Enjoy a thrilling cinematic presentation with high-quality visuals and voice acting. However, performance issues can seriously detract from the overall experience.
- DBD References: The game is filled with references to the Dead by Daylight universe, from sounds and music to skill checks and dolls. The ending provides a very WOW and satisfying connection to the main game. Amazing for any Dead By Daylight-fanatic
- Incredible Atmosphere: The game's atmosphere is captivating, but it lacks the intense scares and jump scares that are typically associated with Supermassive Games' titles.

If you're a fan of interactive horror games or the Dead by Daylight universe, The Casting of Frank Stone is worth considering. With its immersive storytelling and atmospheric setting, it offers a fun experience. However, potential PC players should be aware of the performance issues that may arise way too often for now!
