Good atmosphere and very good sound design. Some decent puzzles but nothing to write home about. Good production value for what it is (a glorified point & click adventure). 14 hours of content if you buy the side quests pack, easily worth it if you buy the game during a sale.

Though I'm not yet done with the game, I think I know enough to write a review. It's an okay-ish, low budget puzzle game with mediocre graphics and voice acting, and puzzles so mundane that you could solve them in your sleep. I'm not even sure that's an exaggeration.

The plot is for the most part jsut the original Christie story, with a few tweaks (like having a second playable character experiencing the Armstrong case first hand instead of it just being "Poirot remembering the events" like in the book). A lot of the dialogue is ripped straight out of the book. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as that's the story I expect.

One of the major changes is the addendum after the the conclusion of the original main storyline. Suddenly there's a twist, and the story continues. However, this extra plotline feels so forced and out of place, that I'm unsure why the developers even bothered.

Another big change from the original book, at least in theory, is the developers' decision to set the game in modern times. But the game never utilizes any of the possibilities a modern setting could provide. You live in a world with smart phones with the internet at your fingertips, but they brush this off by having characters state that there's no reception in the area where the train stopped. It's fair, but it begs the question; why not just set the game in the original time period? Maybe the devs just couldn't be bothered researching architecture and clothing styles specific to the early 1900s.

The plot being a carbon copy of the original book's story (until the shoehorned additional part at the end), that wouldn't be so bad if the game had some redeeming gameplay mechanics. But it doesn't. It feels stale and... on rails (and not in a good way). You just walk around and click things. You can never fail a challenge, it'll just tell you that you're wrong and then you press the correct option and move on. Poirot constantly pats himself on the shoulder every time he completes all these banal tasks; like being able to deduce that someone who is using their right hand to write a note in front of Poirot, is right handed. Woooow, what a genius! This is the level of challenge you can expect to face while playing.

The game isn't terrible, it's just not very good. The main problem is the asking price. It's insanity to charge this much for something that feels so cheap, unoriginal and uninventive. At $20, it could be passable. But it's sold at twice that. Looking back, I would have had a better experience if I had listened to one of the old audiobooks or radio plays. I would've gotten better narration too.

Buy it at a discount if you buy it at all. But don't expect to be thrilled.

It's a solid "Ubisoft-style" open world action adventure game. It does most things better than Ubisoft too. The game overstays its welcome somewhat, and feels a bit too big for its own good. Still a very solid game and I'm very happy it finally released on PC.

A passion project and a ray of hope in an otherwise bleak-looking industry.

No. Just no. Not when it was released, and not today.

This one is a hard one, but right now I am leaning towards NOT recommending it at this stage. The reason being the amount of content vs. the current asking price.

I had fun for the 12 hours I've played, but even after just a few hours, I had seen all the player archetypes, weapons, upgrades, maps and enemy variants. I currently have no interest in going back to the game before it gets more content.

However, I am sure the game will grow into something awesome eventually. So if you get it on sale, give it a whirl, and then let it rest until it's done. It'll likely be a worthwhile investment.

Rogue City is all about shooting enemies in the face. That's what you do the vast majority of the 15 hours runtime. As such, the game would be absolutely fantastic if it had the gunplay of "Insurgency: Sandstorm" or "Ready or Not". The way Rogue City plays now, it's only passable. It could've been so much more.

Had it been released in the mid-2000s, Rogue City would be considered mediocre. But we're so starved for these types of games nowadays, that I happily welcome this loveletter to a favorite movie of mine.

Well worth buying, at least at a small discount. It's certainly a lot better than their previous effort with Terminator: Resistance. If Teyon keep at it like this, then their next few games will be something to truly look forward to.

This is by far the best one yet in this series. It's sadly only three big puzzles, and that's it. More like a demo.

But the actual puzzles are great, and there is much more replayability due to the challenges of trying to achieve the golden tickets.

I only wish it was longer.

Solid little puzzle game. It will take you and a friend about two hours to complete, but it's well worth the asking price.
