It works.

Edit: I mean the Sandbox mode. The Sandbox mode works. The training mode doesn't exist.
I don't know what you're talking about when you say those words. Was there ever a training mode in this? I just click circles.

Gorgeous, I meant to play it a little in the morning and ended up playing through all of it in one go.
For the initiated, try tapping A and D very quickly for some fun animation.

I've played none of the other Total War games that exist, so I won't make a judgement at large on the publisher for things that might exist in other games I miss here.
It is a very pretty game, it shows parts of chinese culture and romanticised history in a nice and interesting way.
The interface looks beautiful, the overall map does too, Units look good.
The gameplay has some noted differences between factions to give a slight incentive to try each.
The sieges feel a bit stale however, as the only real options are trebuchets, rams and tunnels, I am also a bit disappointed that some unit formations are tied to follower items, rather than general or troop experience and type.
Lastly, it is disappointing that, in order to gain a characters weapon or items after capture, they need to be executed, it should be a separate option from releasing them or executing them.

Old but possibly one of the best games Paradox has ever managed.
There's no swamp of dlc, there is quite a bit of thought behind diplomatic interactions and trade.
Fairly speaking, some shortcuts the company implemented in their later games don't exist yet, and some things in terms of combat are less like Hearts of Iron and more along what EUIV and CK2 do, which are in my opinion inferior in simlulating how frontlines in real combat can work.

Those few issues aside, just the diplomatic actions between great powers make it probably the most entertaining game for multiplayer.
