Hidden Cats is a fun, short (0.5-1.5h) hidden object game by the devs of the Find All series. At first glance, the cat theme makes it seem like one of the plethora of cash grab cat games, but it's way better than those.

This short free cat-themed game puts me in the awkward position of finding it way better than the devs' recent bigger and more ambitious Find All titles. I loved the first Find All game, but the more recent titles (like Find All 5) have some awkward design problems: you have to find a gazillion objects (1000 in Find All 5); you're often tasked to find specific objects (like vases) even though the screen is also full of similar-looking objects that don't count (like mugs and cups); and you often get stuck trying to find three specific objects, which makes the games feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Meanwhile, Hidden Cats is a joy to play. You only have to find cats, rather than ten barely distinct categories of cats. You can click on any cat you find from the start, rather than having to wait until you unlock the "find the cat" group. Almost everything in the game that looks like a cat is actually a cat, so clicking on cat-shaped things feels rewarding ("I found a cat"), not punishing ("What do you mean, this vase-shaped thing doesn't count as a vase?!"). And so on. I ultimately needed 2 hints to find the 101 cats, which is also a way better ratio than I had in Find All 5.

Overall this game feels like a better Find All title than the recent Find All titles. All the while preserving what made those games so great, namely that you're filling a black-and-white world with color.
