Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is often regarded as one of the worst entries in the series for a number of reasons that disappointed both fans and newcomers. First off, the decision to completely ditch the single-player campaign was a major blow to players who valued a traditional CoD experience. The absence of a single-player storyline meant that players were left with only multiplayer modes, which felt like a missed opportunity to expand the franchise's lore and world-building. For fans who expected a rich, immersive campaign, this left a major gap in the game.

Another frustrating aspect was its gameplay design, which tried too hard to innovate and ended up alienating both casual and hardcore fans. The addition of specialists with unique abilities was meant to add variety, but it led to imbalanced gameplay where certain specialists could dominate entire matches with overpowered abilities. Instead of rewarding players for skillful shooting and tactics, the game became more about who could deploy their specialist ability first. This shift in the core gameplay made it feel chaotic, less about skill, and more about countering broken mechanics.

Then there was the controversial progression system. The grind to unlock weapons, perks, and attachments felt unnecessarily slow and frustrating. While the game aimed to be a "live-service" title with regular updates and changes, the constant pushing of microtransactions for skins and cosmetics left a bad taste in players' mouths. It was clear that the game's monetization was taking precedence over player experience, especially as certain content was locked behind paywalls or time-limited events, leaving many players feeling like they had to spend money to stay competitive or even enjoy the game fully.

Finally, the attempt to include a battle royale mode was a lackluster and half-baked addition. While it was an early attempt at a CoD battle royale, it failed to innovate and felt like a copy of PUBG without bringing anything truly unique to the table. The map felt uninspired, the mechanics were clunky, and it didn’t have the polish or player engagement seen in other battle royale games like Fortnite or Warzone. While it tried to capture the hype of the battle royale craze, it ultimately felt like a forced addition that detracted from the game's overall quality.
