Baby's first 3D Zelda. Combat is not deep and the game was clearly built for a tablet, but it is done well enough to still scratch an itch. Got 10 enjoyable hours out of it.

Flat out, this is a great game. Battle system is fun and engaging, emerging victorious from an encounter is extremely satisfying. Game is gorgeous despite lack of 1440p support. Story is solid. It also gives you a lot of freedom to develop a personality for your play style.

My only major qualm with this game is it's too short, and by that I don't mean it isn't worth $20, I just wanted more when it was over. So that's probably actually not much of a knock on it.

Excellent story based shooter. Very fun, bordering on ironically brotastic, but not a parody of itself. Despite this, story arc is very sound. Combat mechanics feel great, gives you plenty of options. Fights are fun and give you the ability to decide how you wish to approach an encounter. Definitely one of the best games of 2014.

My advice is to go into this game without any expectations. If you're expecting this to be the cyber-punk GTA you've always wanted, you will be sorely disappointed.

And heaven forbid you try to play this as someone who X-fires AMD cards. What constitutes a "solution" to Ubisoft is beyond laughable and quite frankly, unacceptable.

That said, this is still an above average open-world game. The environments are very pretty and there is an impressive amount of detail to each area. But on the downside, you have virtually none of the freedoms you would expect from a AAA open-world game in the GTA realm. When you see a tall building or a mountain in GTA, you think to yourself "How can I get up there?" When you see a tall building in Watch_Dogs you think "Wow, that's a tall building. Moving on then."

The story is ok, not bad at all but the main protagonist does little to add to it. In fact I would say he is likely the weakest of all of the characters you encounter in this game, aside from nameless NPC's of course.

The control scheme is shaky to say the least. Going back to that lack of freedom I mentioned earlier, you can do what you need to do when you need to do it, but unlike a GTA you can not do whatever ever you please whenever you wish to do it. Driving is also something that will legitimately take some practice.

The overall gameplay is solid though. The cover system is good, which is more than many other good games can say in their own right. The combat and mission specifics are the one area where this game does give you a lot of freedom, and this also happens to be where the game shines. If you wish to go in stealth, absolutely viable. If you wish to go in guns blazing, have at it. If you want to use the hacking mechanics to work your way through, knock yourself out. My only beef with the missions is there is absolutely no consistency with regards to length of a mission. Not the most damning of complaints but when each chapter of the game is broken down into a number of slices of a pie it just seems a little odd. Probably easier understood once in game.

The strong combat mechanics also work well with what I found to be a very strong array of side missions. Some of the most creative and robust scenarios in the game are offered as optional quests. At points I found myself only wanting to progress in the story so I could open up more of the "gang hideouts" missions to go mess around with. As with the other missions, there is an abundance of freedom and also a diverse array of end goals with these to keep it fresh.

The character progression system is good. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out and once you get to a certain point in different trees the game really opens up for you.

The in-game multiplayer facets were something I personally opted out of but the concept is very intriguing and I can see it being a rush for those with some time to kill while in game and not tied down to the main missions.

Overall I found this game to be really fun once I was able to play it (referring to my earlier note regarding attempting to play with AMD graphics). This isn't a AAA barnburner that had me calling everyone I know to go drop $60 on it ASAP, but I would absolutely recommend it on sale or to anyone who is just a big fan of exploring open-world games and taking in all they have to offer.
