I've tried almost 8 months to play and enjoy this game but I'm just gonna be perfectly honest this is an insult of a game.
I literally do not get how anyone on the planet can unironically say this is a good game and I'm a massive IF elitist but this game is honestly worthless and I don't even feel bad for saying it.

The reason this game makes me so mad is because It could've actually been good it has the foundation its literally there but its bogged down with pathetic exploration, generic maps, half the combat system locked behind waiting for discs to enhance aspects of the combat which should just be bloody base-kit.
I know this game will be a sequel and I literally have zero hope for it if its anything like this game.

I'll eventually finish this game but it'll likely take me till the end of time.

Intro
Another year and another neptunia game and a spin-off as well. To start off I did complete the game under 10 hours 100%/Platnium however, this is the second time i've played this game originally owning it day one on PS4 which tells the game is at least quality to be replayed. Before I start I will like to mention that the port although crashing on me twice is super solid and the game is supported by a impressible auto-save feature so it has your back no matter what bug might take you down. (its a miracle).

Story
Fairly simple story has a mix of Nep story telling and Senran story telling although was obvious that the writers in Idea had the most controls with it mainly being focused on the land of Gaminjitsu (that pun alone takes a whole point i'm sorry) as a ninja war is brewing and its up to the heroes of Neptunia and Senran to set aside their differences and save the day. It works for a fun adventure for the groups and overall I liked it but also not super engaging but works for a spin-off.

Gameplay
I think this is where most people get split and I understand why. For a neptunia game especially one thats a Muso its easily the best. The gameplay is fast, fluid and responsive there is dead time here and there but they're mostly are combo enders or response of not using your stamina meter properly and getting punished for it.
Characters are all for the most part different being used for many reasons but overall blending together which isn't the best when you're about unique characters with their own combos but still uniquely flashy to tell them apart.
The 4 style systems are very cool all interacting with apart of the combat: Healing/Status Nullify, Easy Block, More damage but worse defence and fast stamina recharge. Most characters have their advantages but you mainly use it for how your play style and skill level is which is very nice.
And every character gets a shuriken and kunai to change and change for more stronger but less or faster but weaker.
Finally, with the PC release they've added a difficulty slider and trying both I can say how I feel about them both. Easy is pathetic you get meter way to fast and almost every enemy kneels without as much as sneezing on them. Normal is the OG base game and a perfect difficulty. Hard however is a little silly. Instead of adding more deadly attack or maybe making them be far more aggressive they merely have more health and deal game ending damage to you which is one of the worst ways to do difficulty and with no bonus rewards there is almost zero point worrying about it unless you hate yourself.
But for a Senran fan or someone trying because of it being senran related they'd be rather disappointed the game is quite watered down for the Nep audience they isn't super flash combos, Aerials are not in this game sadly except for a smash type attack and the level of combos is relegated to one button which for most fans will disappoint them which is fine its a massive step down but I feel like with the more tougher boss design Senran fans will find some fun fighting the closest thing to Nep Souls we'll ever have.
Overall, Fun gameplay for a Neptunia game easily a step up from how weak the U Unleashed and Mega Tagmension were and hopefully will be a start of a new era for good Nep spin-offs.

Characters
I know little of Senran so I won't talk of them in great length except for they seem to be portrayed with some justice however the character sprites looks a little off and them only being stationary except with empty blinks and lips flaps someone worse then 4kids dubs I will say they were done dirty somewhat. but overall the Nep characters were done justice with some hiccups there but overall their design are very pretty and I like them alot.

Music
Very solid soundtrack but I wished there was more unique themes for the characters when they go into a drive then being 3/4 tracks overall since the main focus is going into drives and mowing down waves the same songs kinda drone on the ears after sometime. But its still a nice background music for this game but not really bangers.

Conclusion
For a Neptunia game this is a very solid title which is a nice streak since the last new spin-offs and ports have been very lacking this game is incredibly short and somewhat repetitive which brings its score down overall but knowing its just a fun muso game it does what it strives to be very well. However, if you're a Senran fan you won't find much here its a very basic and standard muso game with blandish combos and more repetitive the massive combos are almost non existent and overall I recommend maybe giving it a pass. Although I did rag on it in the perspective of a Senran Fan its just the truth of how most Senran Fans see this game which isn't a bad thing but shows that at least to most of them its obvious which franchise it was pandering to.

7/10

You know thinking about it so many game developers try years pouring love and passion into their art making games massive, expanding and life like but can't even muster a 1/100th of the endless fun that is throwing darts at inflated rubber.

The pipeline for Rougelikes have hit rock bottom if you told me that someone was gonna make a Chess rougelike 5 years ago i'd laugh at you but not only does this exist but is somehow so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good that I'd buy it again talks about how amazingly crafted this short but goofy game about using chess pieces to strategically kill your enemies.

Intro
Mary Skelter is one of my Favourite Franchises and although the second games port wasn't the best this one was perfect and it got me into this amazing franchise. Mary Skelter was a passion project made by Compile Heart and it shows as bare bones as the gameplay can be its obvious they had an overall idea on what they wanted to do. The worlds atmosphere, world building, characters, music and the Marchens roaming the new hellscape called jail really add to it all its one of my favourite games (well the remaster is) and I wanted to give this game a deep dive after not only playing all three games but reading the books spoilers ahead and alot of deep dives into certain aspects that some people tend to miss.

Story
One day a meteor lands on the earth containing a small seed that seed was an alien organism which attached to the lively planet and then spread its flesh and death consuming whoever it touches a young boy is caught in the chaos and is infected by one of its spores and becomes the first Marchen distorting and leaving his former family dead.
Sometime passes and despite the best-efforts humanity is unable to stop this new threat and thus a large chunk of them are sent into the abyss 666ft underground and the humans are thus tortured by their new captors slowly forgetting the surface world becoming a myth to those who still live.
But humanity must survive and thus they do having kids and soon new stronger children are born with the ability to control immense power called blood maidens all named after a fairy tale stories. One of the first ones found was a small girl called Red Riding Hood before Dawn party was mostly massacred the Professor being the only living member takes her as his own child.
This is merely the prologue book that came with the, and it does a great job at establishing the fall of humanity and the desire to escape throughout the game the heroes are tested, and their resolve is built to be stronger and stronger the strongest part of the game is easily the story.
It’s an escape story where the characters around you develop as you see fit as you give them gifts and do sub quests, you'll learn more about the people in Dawn and the mysterious Order of the Sun making you have doubts as you uncover the mysteries in the dark eerie hellscape you're thrust into.
Overall, I don't want to spoil too much but its strongest point is the amount of story there is it does get a little heavy sometimes being more of VN then a game but I'm personally into that type of stuff.

Gameplay
Gameplay is good however it also depends on what difficulty you play it on. As many have stated the biggest issue with the first game is how the game turns into Spamming AoE attacks at enemies which is true. However, playing the game on Normal or the Fear difficulty not only bumps the difficulty way up but also adds more need and focus on using the blood de-evolution mechanic, mixing class moves and abilities and adds more to the gameplay.
Although the combat can just bog down to AoE spam saying its just that is disrespectful at how fun the gameplay can be if you don't do that.
Every character has multiple classes some giving characters more defensive options or someone like Gretel and Snow White the ability to be able to use items but also copy the enemies abilities and use them against them. I can't go through every single class since we'll be here forever but you can have a massive wide range of character synergy and ontop of having special abilities and job specialities its safe to say that Mary Skelter has a more in depth system you just have to look for it but it also can't be excused how easily cheesed it can be.
The game is a dungeon crawler first and foremost if you're no doing fights, in the district or doing some story stuff you'll be face first in a dungeon going through completing puzzles and exploring the mess off assets in your way loosely being related to something in the real world but also unrecognisable to the norm it adds to the games overall atmosphere.
I really enjoy this games level design however its obvious this title was their first real attempt at it after playing the other 2 to a point the remake this game got is completely different dungeons. The issue with this games map design is quite simple its either too big with the bonus dungeon having 4 floors of 100x100 labyrinth but also doing skills and traversing is somewhat slow walking over tightrope sections is almost a crawl compared to the brisk walk in the newer version and the puzzles are very straight to the point that someone like me can solve them.
The unique mechanic in this game is the blood meter or the stress mechanic which is basically a meter that informs the player when they're going to go either massacre or blood skelter while going massacre will give boosts Blood skelter makes them go frenzy with insane strength but they'll kill anyone in their path and this punishes AoE builds since now they can use them freely on your own party and if they're a glass cannon you're pretty much screwed.
Its a unique mechanic but due to how the blood is set and doesn't go down a level if your maidens are faster then Jack you can get pranked which is the worst aspect which i'm glad is fixed in the remake.
One final thing i'd like to talk about is the antagonistic monsters in the dungeon called nightmares. unstoppable forces they need a core to be broken before you can hurt them however to do this you must venture through the deepest part of their stomping ground but they won't let you pass easily.
Every now and again you'll hear the guttural screams of them and hear their movement throughout the dungeon but eventually they will reach you when your world goes dark you'll be put through a chase to stay alive you can fight them off to stun them but you can only stop them by doing such they will easily regenerate before you can do any worthwhile damage making it intense. However, the nightmares themselves are slow moving which makes their threat level more of a pain then something to fear in my eyes and wished more had unique mechanics like Wolf Nightmare being faster or the downtown nightmare being able to drag you closer to it.
Overall, great class system, atmospheric world with average level design makes this a worthwhile game and a really hard one too on fear difficulty making you paranoid if you might die any second.

Characters
Strongest roster of character they've ever made to this day a group of members who are the last bastion of humanity working with their own agendas but with the express dream to escape the hell they're stuck in. All of the characters are well written but for this category I want to mainly talk about Jack and that is mainly because he is the main character of the story but also many characters developments and story points happen either the chapter they're shown or because of Jacks influence so I'd rather talk about the MC for this section.
Jack by all means is a somewhat generic guy when you first met him he's timid but pure of heart unbeknown to him living with a blood maiden until they're both taken away and saved from the nightmare by Red Riding Hood he finds out he has the ability to cure corruption and with this he tries to be a help to people but they push him away seeing him more as expendable but his sheer will to keep going helped him not only forge and upgrade his own weapon but to build relationships with his peers. He's a beacon for humanity and he's driven to climb the tower the tower being a beanstalk the tower is a manifestation of his own desires in a way and he'll be the one to see them to it. Suffice to say Jack is a great MC maybe even one of my favourites and with a great supporting cast it only enhances that fact.

Conclusion
Mary Skelter Nightmares is Idea Factory at its best and I can't recommend it enough its normally cheap on sale so I recommend giving it a shot!

A honestly amazing fighting game I'm so glad that it finally came to PC although with that being said I do not appreciate some of the flaws this does have mainly the fact the online is Region locked which will only be fixed until net code comes out.
Personally I'm fine without netcode i'm Australian i've lived with it my entire life but the fact that I can't even find matches because the pool is now tiny to a point it doesn't exist really sucks.

Overall, wait for netcode if you like playing online but if you're a solo player person or mainly someone who wants a continuation to P4 story buy it on a sale.

Intro
Before I start this review I wanted to state I will mainly be covering enhancements and things I love about this remake of the first game with some rehashing for a more detailed review on the events/gameplay I recommend reading my inital review here Fairy Fencer F review.
With that out of the way Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force or FFF:ADF for short is a remaster of the original PS3 game with more gameplay elements, more endings, fixing some plot issues with the game and mainly being overall a more polished game. However with that being said how well did Galapagos do at remaking their first game for a new system? Spoilers ahead so be warned.

Story
As I stated in the intro the story is basically a retelling of the first game Feng pulls the sword, gets a fury, helps her go on her quest to get the maguffin, meets tiara and other wacky characters, fights a evil company etc. But where the game changes is the events introducing Ethel earlier and giving her more of a existence compared to being shown in one area and dying soon after in the first timeline making you actually think about her then just 'oh cute anime girl she's dead now, F'. We also get more with Sherman and with the Goddess timeline/original game story and overall it did fix some issues with Sherman in the first game whil adding more with Ethel and others in a positive way then just being a cashgrab.
Talking about timelines I do massively enjoy they went out of their way to include more then just being a standard IF remake like re;birth titles and included 2 different timelines: Vile God and Evil Goddess and has new villains, new world and most importantly new stakes.
While the Vile God is mainly the original timeline but if Dorfa was able to bring the vile god to our world most characters have either changed for the better like Ethel and Sherman others like Feng has been made a puppet leader of Dorfa being well both stupid and easy to control with giving him a full tummy to comply and Galdo becoming more ruthless.
And the Evil Goddess is almost a complete different story being an almost changed world with a new society taking over, people getting addicted to wine and going into immense amount of debt to a point of being sold as slaves to continue their addictions.
Overall story wise this game as alot to unpack and enjoy even if the most coolest timeline is locked behind new game + and even new game ++ if you avoid furies.

Gameplay
Gameplay is very much like the first game a turn-based RPG however having double the party size, difficulty sliders and each character having a unique skill adds way more on the games plate then being a stock standard Idea Factory RPG. To start a difficulty slider is something the first game desperately needed being so easy to complete even under levelled. Although this game has issues with insanely Broken DLC without it the game can be as easy as the original or ball bustingly hard with a flip of a switch and with the DLC you can make it even harder or easier depending on how you feel and with the added Achievement for beating the game on Hard theres is incentive to go for it.
Having a larger party the game scales the HP and stats of bosses fairly well making them not easier because of it but what makes the larger parties all that more better is the new introduced Skill System.
Every character has a unique ability and not one is the same for example: Tiara can put a barrier wasting all her turns and making her unable to do anything but be a damage sponge, Ethel has a chance to instantly kill enemies while Harley has a full analysis letting you know how close an enemy is to death and what their weaknesses are including break points health these almost simplistic additions bring more life to the combat and gives the game more of an identity that the first game was missing.
With the new additions ontop of the first solid gameplay it can be argued that this was the best JRPG Idea Factory has ever made.

Characters
Alot hasn't changed from the first game Feng is still the loveable dumbass he always has been, Tiara is still the Posh smug woman that grows to be a likable characters and Harley is still well Harley but with alternate timelines it adds more to what can happen with their characters: As stated before Galdo goes from being alot like Feng in alot of ways to being cruel and furious alot like Zeke in the original timeline, Marianna has the most drastic of changes being not only a playable character in the Evil Goddess timeline but being the main villain and becoming the vile god in the vile god timeline without a doubt the game gave her the most love out of all the characters giving her not only more of a look but redeeming her character and fleshing her out in the Evil Goddess timeline to a point there could be a character study on her but now isn't the time for that. But as the universe deems it Feng is still Feng because you can't beat perfection.

Conclusion
Overall, FFF:ADF is a great if not perfect realisation of what they likely wanted to do with the first game but either were under crunch or wanted a smaller game for their first title. I really appreciate what this game stands for and wish future Idea Factory remasters do follow the bonus content, more gameplay option and just polish this game has. While not the greatest JRPG its also a game I wouldn't just look past being honestly dirt cheap with 30 hours of content there's alot to love here.

Intro
As many people know this is the obsolete version of the 2 not having the bonus content and the more fleshed out story but disregarding this game would be an insult to the first attempt of the newly created Galapagos under Compile Hearts watch. This was the second JRPG I played funny enough so it does get nostalgia points but with that being said how does it hold up?

Story
Fairly simple plot you're the hero named Feng who has to help his Fury companion to collect all the Furies to revive the goddess before the evil shadow society can revive the aptly named 'Vile God' because he's well y'know evil and all that.
As simple as the plot is it really does work in the games favour and although some people might not like the reset aspect I fairly enjoy it (however meta commentary from playing more of their later titles Galapagos really like having reset as a main premise). Overall the story won't blow you away but you'll find enjoyment in it.

Gameplay
Its like Idea Factorys other games but honestly more refined I like the whole pulling swords out and then shaping the world with your newly acquired giant swords to affect the worlds and dungeons stats. For example: One sword might make you stronger at the cost of taking away your ability to use healing skills or maybe a xp boost but you take double damage it adds simple stakes to something you might desire even if overall the game is pretty easy missing the difficulty settings that the remake has.
Ontop of all of that but you can also make custom movesets for your party and with the games Weapon Point Gimmick you can make your character a unstoppable machine with enough time. Hell you could do it before the end of the first chapter if you're mentally deranged enough.
After replaying it the gameplay doesn't hold up to most JRPGs but it was a really good first try.

Characters
The game has a fun enjoyable cast some are a little forgettable like the villains I can't remember a single on even after finishing the game but the playable cast work really well off of each other and make for some fun cutscenes.
Feng steals the show easily being an absolute dude bro he's like the cool surfer dude that everyone wants to be friends with. He's a bloody dumbass but he has so much charisma that you just root for him anyways like yeah feng go beat up god with your bare fists you can do it you idiot just be back before dinner.
I feel lesser about some of the other characters however Harley is quite one note she only there for mainly fanservice, Tiara is there she's pretty cool but honestly is a better character in ADF gets more character development, Ethel says kill for the 10,000th time and I like it best girl and Galdo is a king love him.
Sherman becoming unhinged after the reset was a cool twist but it just wasn't explained well in the original but is done way better in ADF.
Overall, a fun cast of characters but after playing this game after ADF I can see alot of their glaring flaws without alot of their character developments.

Music
I don't really talk about music since alot of Idea Factory games have the most boring dollar store soundtrack that is a insult to be digitally put on a CD but this games soundtrack is something else Unbreakable king and Galdo theme are so good that it elevates the entire game from just being such ear candy and I wish there was more of it.

Conclusion
Overall as a game its absolutely outshined by its younger brother but to completely discard this game as 'the inferior version' is honestly an insult to the developers. I would definitely recommend this game to people who want a more rawer version of the remake you'll find some fun and appreciate ADF more.
