Regular updates and new mechanics and major updates every couple months keep things fresh. There are no pay-to-win microtransactions, but you'll probably find yourself wanting to buy more stash tabs, especially if you're a hoarder. A huge variety of builds means tons of replayability.

If you like ARPGs, play Path of Exile. It's a game that's constantly evolving, and if it strikes your fancy, you could easily find yourself hundreds or thousands of hours in without realizing it.
