The next game in the dominions series adds plenty of new content (spells and nations), but perhaps most importantly it adds many quality of life and UI improvements to make the game easier to play for new players and vets alike. There really are too many of these to list... but i'll do a few anyways: Drag select commanders in tactical army setup, upkeep break down, item searching, automatic site searching, population growth / malus breakdown, graphs of blood income, fly attack for commanders, diplomatic messages to AI, more hotkeys, fast/slow battlefield panning.... the list goes on and on. Many things on this list are things the dedicated MP community have been dying for.

Dominions is certainly the most complicated and deep strategy game ever created; now its more approachable by the average player! That said, its still no walk in the park in terms of a learning curve - so brace yourself for that :D

Better UI and more polished than COE 4.
New classes are really cool & some of the old factions have more goodies. And the other planes are a lot easier to find and explore! Also a new MP lobby is much easier to use than 4 and there are lots of games in there at launch.
Some of my personal issues with pacing and AI dying early can and have been fixed through modding.

Quite simple the most brilliant 4X game ever made. Its not rock paper scissors - Its enormous human armies, hordes of undead, small armies of elite units killing hundreds for each of their own lost, huge corps of mage artillery destroying everything, battlefield wipe spells destroying unprepared armies, efficient hero units that can solo raid enemy territory, Huge powerful beings that can crush entire enemy armies, specially designed heroes to kill those super beings, small assassin armies killing all your enemies commanders - leaving their armies leaderless, strategic magic nukes that level enemy armies, global enchantments that if held on to win you control of the game. And that is only touching the surface.

This is a game with thousands of units, thousands of spells, and hundreds of items - truly there are infinite strategic possibilities. While the game is fun to learn in single player, the strategic depth & diplomatic intrigue of multiplayer is unmatched by any other game I have ever heard of.

The game has a thriving multiplayer community. If you can get past / enjoy the pixel graphics, this is quite simply the best strategy game ever made. If you have 40$ to spend on games, i cant think of a better way to spend it :)
