I've played a couple hours so far, and... all in all? Taxi Chaos 2 does the same thing that Taxi Chaos 1 did: re-introduce the Crazy Taxi formula to modern game players - but Taxi Chaos 2 does it a little better.

The Crazy Taxi formula remains the same, but while Taxi Chaos 1 was almost TOO similar to Crazy Taxi, Taxi Chaos 2 adds a couple new variations and gameplay mechanics that (for me) give the game more staying power than the original Crazy Taxi ever had, and I've enjoyed handling them as I go from point to point.

I will say that the controls feel very arcade-y (in particular, the way that the taxi cabs turn and the sheer bounciness of the default taxi when you collide with things) but I was able to get used to them fairly easily - and besides, I don't think I can really cast shade on the devs for having arcade controls in their game that is, quite literally, a(nother) love letter to an arcade game.

Like... for better or for worse, the taxi cabs still feel like they're from Crazy Taxi, and if you don't know what that's like... well, it's not like GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077, or any "realistic" driving game. Be forewarned.

So far, I've enjoyed my time with the game so far, and I look forward to what else the devs decide to do for the game as they continue to update it.

I'm enjoying the 3v3 mode and I can see where the game has potential... but since the company in charge decided to lay off so many of the developers, I get the feeling that I'm the only one. I'd like to play it more and see more characters, but how much you want to bet this game will NOT be given the time it needs to breath?

A game that very much wants to be "Ghost of Tsushima at home", but the thing is... we already have Ghosts of Tsushima at home; it's called Ghost of Tsushima - and it didn't use lame, imaginatively bankrupt, and creatively souless generative-ai for its NPC interactions.

Hire some damn writers, Everstone Studio, and then pay for accurate damn localization. Uninstalled.

I'm a newcomer to the Wizardry series at large, so I don't have any experience with any gameplay mechanics that the series established before this game. That being the case, I find a lot of the systems in this game are not explained very well... or not explained at all, so I've had to puzzle them out myself or just ignore them and hope for the best.

I could just search online for a guide or explanation, but I feel having access to a working (non-blocked or monitored) search engine shouldn't be a requirement to play or enjoy a game.

That said, I'm 18+ hours in at the time of writing this, and I HAVE largely been able to figure out the mechanics by myself. And so far? I'm legitimately having a good time with the game. The gameplay has been fun, I enjoy seeing the (admittedly limited) character interactions, and the combat flows well enough. I've never played this sort of dungeon crawler before, but I think this game has been made well enough to convince me I like this kind of game and want to try others.

That said, the monetization is blatantly obvious, but it does not feel well thought out - it's like the developers already had a completed game that was ready for release, but someone higher up (probably a tone deaf executive) heard some buzz words about live-service content and ordered them to make it a gatcha game. Which is unfortunate, because I think I'd like the game even better if I knew it had a definite ending in mind (which live-service games, by definition, cannot) and if I knew it WASN'T going to bloat its roster with oh-so-many characters with limited interactions and personal stories, just to try to entice people to "roll for the new hotness."

I'd much prefer it if they already had a cast already in mind, and then used the entirety of the game to let the player explore their stories and develop relationships with them.

That aside, I'm at 18+ hours in and so far? I have not needed to use real currency to purchase anything in game. I've been able to progress through the dungeon with everything the game has provided me so far. And that so? I currently can recommend the game. If that changes? I'll revise this review and probably recommend players look for another, non-live service, game like this. I'm sure there's some indie game or other out there that can do what this game does, and probably better.

It gets a lot of hate, but it's better than people give it credit for... though still not quite the best.

Main issue? Wonky hitboxes that are easily exploited, both by the player and by the enemies.

Other than that? It's a fun romp.

A fun little arena shooter; good spooky aesthetic with the visuals, audio, enemy design, and especially lighting. Something nice to play for a quick Halloween stream, though could easily be expanded on, to make it a deeper game. Good work.

Bought the game years ago, played it a bit, but didn't have time for it.

They released "The Cursed" update which caught my interest, so I decided to pick it up again. Unfortunately, the content for "The Cursed" was only available for two weeks, and I definitely didn't have enough time to get back into the game and access the content, so that means I now don't get to try any of it unless the devs re-release it.

As nice as the game's existing content is, making neat updates like "The Cursed" be time limited is really depressing to encounter when you have a real-life schedule to deal with, since I can't -and won't- devote the little free time that I have in a day/week/month just to one game's content, because real life has to take priority.

Moral of the review? Check out the game's non-time limited content and see if it appeals to you. If it does, you'll have something worth your while that you can always check out at your own pace.

But if any of the many updates the devs release look especially interesting to you, double check to make sure that the update isn't just time-limited content, since you might not even get the chance to experience it during it's unfortunately limited run.

I hear there are ways around this by modifying the game's files, and that the devs occassionally re-open content like this for access during special events, but I'm not sure how viable the first option is with a game that wants to be multiplayer, and for the second option, I don't know the timeline on when special events like that happen. Not ideal solutions.

What if "7 Days to Die" but with zombies AND cryptids? But the same amount of jank and a battle pass.

Sure, why not? 3-ish hours in and I've been entertained.

A neat first attempt, and competently put together.
Voice acting added to the experience, and it'd be neat to see what more the dev can learn and put into the next part.

Be careful with the Dragon though, since it does have a health bar and (as of 3/29/24) if you get off it, you might not be able to get back on again.

The game starts a little slow as you first begin and go through the intro plot, but by the end of chapter one, I could start to see the potential in the gameplay and how the character and their skills/weapons work. It's interesting enough for me to stick with it and hope for more longer-length levels and boss fights, since I am an individual of culture and am of course only playing this for the gameplay.
