Much Improved & Increasingly Addictive // Recommended for absolutely everyone

+ Various game modes
+ Provisional cost mechanics simplify the act of deck-building
+ Animations are sharp & satisfying
+ Lengthy, but more than adequate tutorial that is actually helpful without being overbearing or overcomplicated
+ Card animations & artwork are fantastic
+ One can advance well enough as a free player, & the game manages to avoid falling into pay-to-win territory
+ Runs well with no issues, & feels generally streamlined
+ Cross-platform support with Android & iOS devices
+ Steady progression & good pacing when advancing
+ Surprising amount of customization options & unlockables: boards, profile avatars, avatar borders, titles, card backs, etc.
+ Features a "GG" (Good Game) button after each match, & pressing it gives your opponent a small resource boost for their time; I've found that 9/10 players use the GG button after every match, & it felt like a welcome mechanic that helped to foster good sportsmanship
+ Taunts during matches; there are only 6 options, but they aren't overbearing, & I felt this was a great system to have in place of an easily abused chat feature
+ More factions & a much more in-depth game than that found in The Witcher 3; overall, GWENT has been completely reworked & deepened, making it a vastly superior game
+ One can click around on the game board & it rewards the player with little "puff" animations & satisfying sound effects; completely meaningless, but strangely soothing & helps to take a lot of the frustration out of waiting for the other player to make their move
+ Move timers to ensure that games don't get bogged down in indecision

+/- Game boards only have two rows (melee & ranged) instead of the third (seige) row in TW3; this actually was used to great effect & I feel it didn't hold the game back at all, but some players won't appreciate the change as much

- Loot barrel mechanics
- Falls into the same problem as every other TCG in existence: meta deck builds

Eh, that's actually a good point.

I really don't get the hate on microtransactions on a free game, they have to make a living somehow. Besides that, earning cards is rather easy and rewarding. Nonetheless, great review!

Yes, I also like your reviews. This one, for an example, is quite spot on. I'm glad to see Gwent on Steam, no longer confined on GOG.com , and your review up and running. Keep up the good work, mate, and salutations from Romania!

Thank you for the reply! I always write from the gut, my emotions come into play which is why a game has to affect me deeply to even write a review. But yours are always spot on and you bring up great points.
