Even though its not as good as the Alpha in my opinion, people need to seriously stop pretending like Wollay 'abandoned' the game, because that is simply a straight up lie.
He is literally working on this game on his own, and updates were always infrequent. Waiting 2 years for a social media post has been completely normal since the Alpha came out.

People with unnecessarily harsh criticism were exactly the reason why he didn't share more about the development and why there was no real play testing of his Beta builds until the game released. He made the game the way he thought it would be fun, which is generally hard to pull off successfully when you don't have input from people who aren't developers for the game themselves (or more accurately in this case, from people who aren't literally yourself).

If you have genuine criticism for what he could have done better, feel free to write him a message on Twitter or write a review. If your criticism boils down to 'Its not as good as Alpha and he abandoned it' I'm sorry to say, but literally everyone knows its not as good game play wise and you aren't doing anybody a favour by making him even more self conscious about a project that took him literal years to even release publicly and that he has been consistently working on for over a decade.

Just because he doesn't post a weekly update for the toxic people who have no object permanence doesn't mean hes stopped working on it, it just means he isn't posting updates - as usual. Probably because people keep complaining that hes not doing enough.



Why its not as fun as the Alpha:

Gear is region locked and looses its stats when going to a new area of the map.
That includes all gear except the flat movement bonuses you get from Relics.
This makes grinding the game and ''leveling'' feel a bit meaningless, since there is no traditional XP system and the gear you worked for goes from OP to useless as soon as you finish fighting the areas boss. All you get to keep is move speed bonuses. A nice idea as a concept, pretty frustrating in actual game play.


Why I'm still giving it a positive review:

The game has a great vibe, unique and revolutionary look that was copied dozens of times by other games, some funny dialogue and a random map generation that's amazing, especially considering only one person works on it.
Most importantly though, I'm nostalgic and hope Wollay continues his work on this game so it can become the masterpiece it could have been. Mods exist to give you a more 'Alpha' game play loop, if that's what you are looking for, and more in-depth systems like housing, better path finding and questing are being worked on, as well as an UE5 update.


In conclusion:

• Is the game as good as it could (and maybe should) be?
  No.
  
• Why are there no updates?
  Because hes a solo dev and you are impatient. Stop complaining and play another game in the meantime.
  
• Is it worth to buy?
  Probably yes, if you haven't played the Alpha and just download the mod. If you have played the Alpha you get the game for free anyways - because contrary to what toxic gamers say, Wollay actually cares.
  
• When is the game finished?
  It probably never will be.
