RISK: Global Domination
RISK is a digital board game where you must fight against up to 5 other players to claim territory in variety of different maps and modes, It's free so there's no risk in trying it out. It's a shame they put so much content behind a paywall because if you take into account all the paid content in the game, there's a hell of a lot, but I guess that's just the nature of F2P games.

Gameplay
There's quite a time commitment to Risk, you usually have to set aside an hour or so since games can drag if players aren't very aggressive. Some maps are bigger than others and with bigger maps comes more spaces to capture meaning even longer games. It's a game of attrition, you could realistically do everything right but get teamed against and lose.

There's a few issues that I had with the game like the aforementioned length of matches or the fact that your spawns are rng reliant but you can customise your game settings if you host allowing for quicker turn times or placing your own troops at the start of each game.

Even though this game is freemium with most of it's content locked behind a paywall and you cannot host the maps you don't have access to, the game does allow you to join matches hosted by those that have purchased map packs. I think this is a good middle ground.

However the big caveat of this game is it's horrid energy system, you gain coins every hour or something and you require them to play games. Systems like this need to be abolished from games, I know it's because they want players to purchase premium but it's like they don't actually want people to play their game.

Achievements (55/55)
There are multiple issues with getting 100% steam achievements for RISK, for one the "Land Baron" achievement has been broken for quite a few updates with the only way to unlock it being to download a depot for an older version of the game. There is also one that requires 5 different avatars which are only reasonably unlocked by buying premium, otherwise logging in for measly amount of premium currency over a long period of time. The rest can be gotten in any mode so you could technically just unlock everything with a group of friends.

Settings/Accessibility/Misc
Cross-Compatible save with the mobile version. Given that this is a mobile game, it would make for a good steamdeck game. Lots of customisable settings in a match. Options to remove animations and confirmation screens to speed up turns. UI is scalable. 9 languages supported.

TL;DR
Board game where you fight against other players for territory. Long matches. Customisable game settings. Premium content is accessible by joining others' games. Horrid energy system limiting games you can play. Grindy achievements.
