Do not buy this game.

It does not work. It doesn't matter how cheap it is, the game is non-functional.

Utterly infested with cheaters and smurfs.
Top ranks are full on HvH so the legit players make new accounts to get to play actual games.
Mid ranks are full of awful players with ali-express wall/aim cheats.
Really great that I have to go install a 3rd party anti-cheat and play on a separate matchmaking service because you don't care to fix your game Valve.

Been a while since I played this game, but it was a lot of fun back in 2012 with my 5 friends rolling around doing jobs.

The shooting mechanics are slightly broken, but become abusable if you can somehow manage to get the game to run at 60 fps, which was pretty hard for me at the time.

The mission ranks are bronze, silver, gold. When I first hit gold rank back in the one week I played it, it was literally full of hackers. There were very few people that high without aim-bots. Still, it was fun, and it was doable, it was just nearly impossible to hold your gold rank.

The game has changed a lot since I first played it, but I can almost guarantee that you'll play it for the customization options and the fact that it's an online GTA. (That does it better than GTA5 online) I can also tell you that it's extremely hard to move forward without a premium subscription, and that was the reason me and my friends stopped playing in the first place, once our 7 days from the steam promotion were up, we stepped out.

Might be worth it now, only with friends. Game is frustrating to get in to, more so without friends. Expect lots of groups who know how to play together.

EDIT: I'm changing my review, for all the good it'll do, as a result of the "Crimefest" day 1 reward in 2015. In this update, Overkill decided to add 'keys' and chests, like Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and CSGO use.

This is not a reward. This is going back on a promise Overkill made to us 2 years ago when the game was just about to be released. This is adding microtransactions with tangible value to try and get more money out of what was once a loyal fanbase. I'm no longer going to be playing Payday 2 and I would suggest to anyone to reconsider giving Overkill your money for this game.
