Don't get me wrong, the game is good, fun even, but if you're wanting a VTM roleplaying game they've dropped the ball big time. No stats, Clans and Disciplines are akin to perks and there's no Humanity or Banes to speak of; so kill as you please and as a Ventrue I've gorged myself on vagrants and the homeless. Combat is almost purely brawl, you cannot equip weapons of any kind; you also have a telekinesis system that allows you toss weapons and shoot guns, but it's very finicky and I've found little use for it in the heat of combat.

As for the good; traversal is great. Despite brawl being the only mode of combat and feeling a little weak at times, it can be both satisfying and comical. The story isn't half bad, the dual protagonists are both very entertaining and I've enjoyed listening to all of the characters converse and gossip. Although I feel it's missing just a bit of grime and sleaziness, like the writers were afraid to punch down, but that could just be me missing SoCal.

I'd say it's worth a try. Devs I am serious about the clan banes though, that added variation between clans could be what makes or breaks someone's desire to do second playthroughs.

Started off brutally hard, but once you find your flow the game clicks and you become a machine of violence and meat.

Thematically this game hits every single note right, from the humor to the setting, I cannot name another indie title this year that even came close to being this PEAK.

A bleak tale of love, despair, not big enough pockets, overly elaborate door locks, radio tuning, and the grave consequences of voiding the warranty on your girl-bot.

The got rid of my favorite cheesy quip and turned it into an achievement. I'm livid, furious even. Terrific game, 5/5

Both artistically and musically this game is a work of art, the sprite work and themes of this game really resonate for people who enjoy this style of RPG.

I would not have known this game had a final act (or a true final boss) if I did not have prior knowledge of it and would have figured that the game was over once all eight tales had reached their conclusion. While it is hinted at through the various traveler's tales, it feels rushed and cobbled together. The characters that are focused throughout the conclusion to the story are side characters you run into no more than 3-4 times throughout your 40-70 hour play through, but at the same time are pivotal to the conclusion of the story and who's importance are only made whole and clear via a post boss rush infodump before the final encounter.

I got my money's worth from the journey, but the destination did not feel worth it.

A very faithful remake, the movement system feels a bit smoother and the combat has "a bit more nuance" as opposed to equipping your Phoenix Spear and spamming heavy attack like you did in the original.

The only con that comes to mind is that the game has crashed on me without warning several times, and without an autosave feature I've probably lost a combined 2 hours of game time.

EYE is a source engine game, meaning you'll find the playstyle reminicent to that of Half Life, Left for Dead, etc. But that's just the tip of the iceberg as far as gameplay goes because on top of being a FPS, this game also has RPG elements. You have stats that benefit your melee damage, accuracy, hacking, run speed, Psychic powers, and so on. On top of that you can spend ludicrous amounts of money to get cyber body modifications or to preform research on artifacts which will boost your stats even higher. At a certain point you will be able to run at ridiculous speeds, turn your foes into a fine red mist with a cybernetic claymore, and backstab helicopters with warhammers.

However there are a few places where it, debatibaly, falls short. There are a lot of bugs in the game, not including the ones that you can shoot. Even with an extensive ingame tutorial a lot of gameplay mechanics are somewhat unclear. Every character in the game talks and swears like a grizzled bandit, from actual grizzled bandits to your fellow psychic space illuminati assassin paladins. A karma and rating system that 'somehow' are intregal to gameplay probably. Getting shot in the face so hard that it breaks your legs, you get the idea.

The story is an absolute trip, even if you do get the final ending there's a lot that you probably wont grasp. With elements such as alternate/nonexistant timelines, internal conflict in past-present tense, and the psychic force of the universe lashing out in the form of monstrosities in retaliation to rapid cyberascension and the squelching out of other species. I honestly have no idea what's going on and neither will you. Shut up and gain brozouf.
