The game itself is fine. Optimized horribly and not just bad frames. Literal breaking of the game. Some examples:
-Enemies don't load in for bossfight. Had to start from the checkpoint again.
-Enemies may not load in until you've gotten past the area, and then they'll load in all around you.
-People to talk to you may not appear. Objective/map marker shows they are there, but they aren't.
-Invisible walls, not on the edges of the map, but in front of doorways/gates so you can't get into areas
-Ladders/ropes not loading in. One of the missions required me and my ally to clear a cave, then climb up a ladder to the next stage. The ladder didn't load in so we couldn't continue the mission. I had to quite the game, re-open it and the ladder was there.

I'd hold off on the game for a sale. It's a shame I've played 4 hours, cause at this point, I'd prefer a refund.

@HatedSovietLion:

That sucks to hear. You're not insulting a dev i like, i don't even own the game (yet). Its just reading lots of posts on several games saying stuff like "its not optimized!!!" whilst people use a i3-Dualcore, 4 Gigs of RAM and a 1050 to play the newest UE5 Game with Ultra-Settings in 4K. And that just made me say "maybe its not just the game".

I think the "unoptimized" card can be played if one has a really decent PC and its still running like shit or if its unrelated bugs as the ones you've seen.

I doubt most bugs you encounter can only be attributed to your hardware, fair enough. Maybe its an issue with running from an HDD though ? That might explain stuff popping in late or not loading at all.

Can't say for sure until i play it which might be a while with many games still on my Pile of Shame list.

@ThirdLife Yeah the 2070S is older now. I can play most NEW games still on low-medium settings in 60 fps range. Yes, I ran it off an HDD the first time, then moved it to an SSD. Same issues. I can live with 30 fps. Can't live with game breaking bugs

IF it was just poor frame rate, sure I'd blame the 2070 but for a game too not have enemies, people, or even ladders load in? That's more than "graphics card".

This has been a common issue with Team Ninja games overall as well that they just suck at PC ports/game performance. Wo Long Fallen Dynasty ran poorly for tons of people and the framerate stutters still affect people today.

Sorry for insulting a game/dev you like,I like them ;but better looking games, more demanding games, and newer games are still able to run fine but that Rise of Ronin has game breaking bugs/load in issues and that are reported not just by me, but by game journalists, I doubt it's just a "shitbox PC issue". At that point it's a game itself issue.

Reading your comment further down, your hardware isn't really great - not even kinda decent in todays times which in your mind makes "the game poorly optimized". I'd say your PC is poorly optimized for todays games.

Also "other games run fine!!!" is not a great argument. To stay in that role: other people have no problem running this game.

Almost 99% of the time some random person here writes "POORLY OPTIMIZED!!!" it translates to "Shitbox as a PC" and/or "no clue what he/she's doing". Even trying it to run off an HDD does kinda show where your whole argument is coming from.

Totally baffling that a game that looks this awful, would need such high system requirements - this is one of the highest recommended specs I've seen, and nothing I can see in videos of people playing it can justify the crazy requirements. Totally nuts. :kritika_grr: Even the file size! Is this game seriously 150GB? Lunacy.
Alpha-methyl Apr 23 @ 7:42am
Your most likely culprit is your storage type - it recommends an NVMe drive - so I am guessing even some SSD's aren't sufficient speed. Needless to say, an HDD is probably not going to work.

No idea why this game would be so demanding - even modern games rarely require NVMe - this game's requirements are all oddly high, for how bad it looks. If you've got an M.2 port on your motherboard, you can probably pick up at least a 1TB M.2 drive - Probably don't want to go smaller than that, unless you intend to only have this game installed on it. Seems like the file size is also enormous...

Ohh i see that your CPU needs to be at 10th GEN but im not sure if it would affect it alot!
omega2446 Apr 8 @ 12:18am
I think at this point i would upgrade the GPU to at least a 3060, how much ram as well ?
HatedSovietLion Apr 7 @ 7:19am
@omega2446 i7 9th gen, 2070S. I already got the refund and I know it's getting older, but I can usually run most games at 1080p low settings at 60, medium at 30-40.This one I could run at low settings around 30 pretty consistently, but again, there were NPC's, enemies, doorways/ladders not loading in so the game itself wasn't even playable.

I tried on the HDD and SSD.
