Love this game!

This is one of the best games in the OFP/Arma series!
The Eden editor which is the 3D editor is the highlight of the game, yes theres a ton of missions, campaigns, mods, functions, & features, scripts, codes, textures, sounds, tools, ............................ the list goes on and on, theres so many genre's of mods in this game I wonder why anyone
buys other games.

The greatest thing is the community is massive, the forums are always busy the developers are always updating, fixing and adding new features, functions as well as new content sometimes. I cant recall how many times this game has been updated since its Alpha release over 200+ times?!

Sure people will have their issues and dislikes about the game, i think every game has that. Arma 3 has a high learning curve it depends but its not limited to what is listed or what it gives you, its extremely diverse, in depth, open ended, sandbox, theres so much content you can play with, so many things you can do, and create that you will get more for
your money then any other game imo.

Computer
For Arma you need a decent computer, Arma is a CPU hog,
this is what im running the game on:
- Intel Core i7-7700K,
- EVGA RTX 2060 12gb,
- 32GB (Freq - 3600) with the game on an SSD
- 1000w PSU,
- Win 10 64bit,
i average 60-100+fps in what i play, CPU is the biggest thing if you can afford an upgrade, upgrade the cpu above all things.

I been in the OFP/Arma series since it started (2001) and compared to the editor in the previous games, the editor in A3 is the best, it has so many features and functions and isn't that hard to learn how to create a simple mission, like in the previous games you can play your mission in the editor too!

For maps/terrains which are what you play missions on, Arma 3 comes with 2 maps, they are.....MASSIVE and have tons of details, amazing work, for more maps I highly recommend a mod called CUP Terrains, CUP stands for Community Upgrade Project it adds all the maps from the Arma1/Arma2/OA games!

Among other things like all the infantry weapons, tanks, vehicles, and other stuff, there are several major popular mods for zombies for those of you who are into zombies, survival, looting like in DayZ ect,. theres something for everyone in this game.

You want to play:
  • Serious military realism.
  • Post-Apocalyptic, Zombies, scenario, or horror survival
  • Star Wars, Warhammer 40k, Starship Troopers, Mass effect, Command and conquer, Stalker Chernobyl
  • Aliens, Dinosaurs, Monsters, Space, Halo, Mechs, Horror, zombies
  • SP, MP, COOP, PvP, TvT, CTI
  • Realism units, MilSims, Clans, Groups, and Squads
  • WW2 - Iron front in Arma3, Ostfront, Pacific Theater, Western Front, Finnish Front Russians, British, Germans, Italians, Finnish, Czech
  • WW1 Mod - yes theres even WW1
  • Code, script, texture, model, create new factions, mods, missions, campaigns, weapons, objects, insignia's, uniforms, cars, tanks, jets, planes, boats, maps, and islands, gameplay features, and functions
  • Build your own scenarios for sp or mp in the Eden Editor, a full blown 2d and 3d editor, even
play your scenarios from the editor
  • Scenarios, campaigns, Mods, thousands of scenarios, mods to keep you playing for years!
  • Fly in fighter jets, propelled planes, commercial jets, tourist planes, helicopters
  • At night, underwater as a scuba diver, Halo, parachute, hang gliding, just explore
  • RTS, be a commander, a lone soldier, squad leader, give orders, be a medic, engineer, driver, pilot, machine gunner, sniper, navy seal, tanker, hitman
  • Kill terrorists, be a terrorist, be an assassin, a lone sniper, sharpshooter, a police officer, marine, army, airborne, navy seal, firefighter, hunter
  • Special forces, silenced, blow up stuff, vehicles, buildings, people, anywhere!
  • Like an arcade, military simulation, RPG, RTS, modern, WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Sci Fi, zombies, survival, racing
  • Make a lot of friends and meet alot of interesting intelligent people!

You can do all that!
Idk what else to say buy it its worth every dime, even better on sale ;)

heres a vid of the computer i recorded in October 2017
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-5r45BpErY
with this build i get 80+FPS! in what i play, i get over 115fps on a server.

So my reccomendation if your interested in buying the game is have the following:
at least an quad core cpu, geforce 1070 or better, ram minimum of 16gb with no less then 3000 frequency, an SSD not a standard hard drive (HDD), at least 750watt psu.

Now here is a tech report test/review of arma3 testing a Kaby lake i7 700k cpu with ram
https://techreport.com/review/31179/intel-core-i7-7700k-kaby-lake-cpu-reviewed/11
the cpu and ram in the review i have, and what they say is true, i maxed my ram out to 3600 freq, thats the limit of my motherboard so im pretty fortunate to get it that high.

Any questions about computers, and or questions in general about the game dont hesitate to ask.

Great review Gunter, it gets a total agreement thumbs-up from me. I also appreciated the link you posted below. I just ran the tool on my laptop to see if the Wolfenstein New Order game I'm downloading will run OK, and it came out pretty fresh: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-7100U CPU @ 2.40GHz (34th percentile). Graphics card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 (87thpercentile) :steamhappy: I also now have an updated graphics card driver because of the test results, thx again!

Thanks for the answer! I knew those other guys on the internet were wrong, they said stuff like i will get 20fps max with my specs.

Quad core will work, and you have enough ram, i play it with a duel core and have 8gb of ram and a Nvidia geofrece gtx 750 and i average 30-35fps sometimes more depends on whats on the map, or what your doing. You should be fine.
If your not sure use this tool http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri
which will scan your computer for what you have then give you a run down if you meet the requirements.

Hey man i was thinking of getting this but i'm not sure if i have a good enough processor to play. Do you think this will work with: Radeon RX 480 4GB, AMD FX-4300 Quadcore 3.82Ghz, and 8GB ram?
Gunter Severloh Nov 25, 2016 @ 1:10pm
Ya man! Although i could play more, but I have multiple projects I work on and the next few will be back in Arma3 ;)
