Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a First Person Shooter which story is set in Southern America whilst the Multiplayer brings the player to 14+ different maps each set in a unique environment.

Story

The game puts the player into a mission that is set in 1944 in which you and your team infiltrate an island in the Sea of Japan to extract a Japanese scientist. After a time skip the player finds themself in the present days and is task to continue their mission to extract something behind enemy lines in Russia.

Personal Note

Bad Company 2 is my personal favorite in the Battlefield franchise so far and that’s not necessarily because it’s good for today’s standards. It’s mostly because the Multiplayer is such a unique shooter with lots of Battlefield sandbox elements that allow you to play however you want with some slight restrictions of course.

Some Gameplay mechanics and even the destruction of buildings are still more than decent and still can hold up to the current Battlefield titles. The player base was still somewhat active in 2019 whenever I last played the game for a couple of hours.

Bad Company 2 was known for making the former so called “Gold Rush” mode from the first Bad Company game better and re-named it to “Rush” which is one of the most beloved Battlefield game modes out there.

The Vietnam DLC added 5 more maps and a handful of weapons for every class as well as new ground and air vehicles. The value of this DLC is pretty good since you get lot of content for a somewhat cheap price these days.

Conclusion

In case you wonder if Battlefield Bad Company 2 is still worth to buy in 2021 – I’m not sure.

The story is nice and interesting and might be worth your money if you like the Battlefield-Type of storytelling.

The Multiplayer isn’t as active anymore. Looking at the steam stats it seems quite dead with an 180 player peak as I was writing this review. There is a chance that there are still some community hosted servers out there but I reckon that the player base might be too small at this point. You can look those stats up here[steamdb.info]
