It's taken seven years of playing this game to write a review, but this game is going on a Thelma and Louise off a cliff, and their patchwork to stop that happening is simply to add more planks so it takes a tiny bit longer till you fall off the cliff.

The entire game is based around cashgrabbing. It is advertised using modern vehicles, which individuals will never reach unless they invest hundreds of dollars into getting it for one nation - and then there's the seven other nations upon which you will have to do the same to ever play the top tier tanks. War Thunder is no longer designed to retain players - only to demand money from new players and then fundamentally ruin their experience with the lack of bug fixes and community feedback.

Surveys are never considered when fixing the game, and bug reports can go (and in some cases have gone) upwards of six years to fix a particular bug - in other cases, these are ignored entirely if it doesn't help Gaijin Entertainment's cashgrabbing attempts. To match these cashgrabs, new 'major updates' come out in a rushed, under-tested and under-developed manner, with entire nations having lines of vehicles removed (Maus, Panther II, Tiger II (H) 10.5cm) or entire lines of vehicles never added (British Light Tanks do not exist except for the very lowest tier, and the very high tier) despite some of these lines being significant to the doctrines of the nations they are part of.

Should you ever wish to have fun in this game, the best tiers are from Tier I-III, and specifically the Battle Rating of 3.3. At this range, the players are much more friendly and play for fun rather than a desire to hunt down and ruin games for other players in order to get a higher grind reward.

Early Access Review
I had this game bought for me as part of my role in a different game's community. I found it was a very easy game to get into, with a good professional community, but hindered by the use of it's voice chat features that can be abused (and often are abused) by the majority of the community.

The game does continue to improve however this is often very slow, and recently the game has (for me) had several loading errors that cause the game to crash. Ensure you have a high-end PC for this as it demands a lot more than other games of this genre.
