UPDATE!
I spent around 4 weeks reverse engineering and binary patching the game in order to include a new music track in the main menu just like the N64 version! I uploaded it into the guides page of the game, be sure to check it out :)


I played this game all throughout my childhood on the N64. This is my honest take on the game, I’ll give my experience with it and a pros/cons.

For starters, this game is the original Windows 95 release of the game. It’s quite dated not greatly optimized for modern hardware. Specifically video and controls. Higher resolutions cause issues to the hud and cutscenes. Binding keys can be kinda annoying, but you’ll be fighting the camera quite a bit.
I’ve played with both mouse and keyboard and ps4 controller with the community profile which is a must.
The fps MUST be capped to 30. The game does still run at 60, but during Gall Spaceport and other missions you’ll be sliding off the edge, not to mention the Swoop Bike. If you struggled with that on N64 back then at 30fps then 60 will make you ask for a refund but by that time it’s too late. Turning the fps down to 25 can also help the sliding too with the slight cost of smoothness.
The final Skyhook level also seems unplayable on Hard or Jedi difficulty, instantly killed when I spawn in and no chance to survive, the N64 version did not seem to be this difficult. Medium difficulty strongly recommended.

Now onto the changes between the N64 version. A noticeable change from the N64 version and pc version is the pc has video cutscenes instead of the comic strip style. The other difference is the lacking main menu, the N64 had an amazing main menu/cutscene theme that was not included in the pc version (my biggest complaint). The audio tracks are also in higher quality and with a longer loop, during my second playthrough I swapped out them out for the N64 versions since they are slightly more nostalgic to me. The N64 version of the sewer level also has a slight more green tint to the screen.

I play the game using a crt monitor, default resolution fits it perfect and looks better than my flat panel.

Pros:
-great story
-great music
-nightmare inducing boss battles
-memorable missions and locations
-memorable voice actors
-feels like a massive overhaul upgrade to Dark Forces
-different game styles; flying/driving, shooting, exploration
-honestly probably a bit more but I can’t let the nostalgia blind me

Cons:
-controls/camera are a nightmare without proper binding
-very basic ui startup page
-lack of higher resolutions/framerate without breaking the game
-plain boring menu, why not make it like the N64?!
-game can crash on startup or inbetween missions/cutscenes
-without extra files the game can be very unplayable or run poorly on modern systems

In conclusion, I think it’s a great game and still worth it to pick up and play. If you’ve played it back in the day on N64 you will already know how amazing this game is and once you work out the kinks it holds up well. I watched 1 YouTube video on how to set it up and that was all I needed for it to run smoothly. The game has a perfect balance of trauma and nostalgia. I give this version a 7.5/10, doesn’t hold up as well compared to the N64. I hope a remaster comes along and fixes the issues. This game will always be canon to me.

Don’t listen to all the negative reviews saying not to get it because how “unplayable” it is and how many things you need to do to get it to work. Download 1 program and edit 1 .conf file, it’s simple. Took me 10 minutes to get it all working and finished 3 playthroughs. Do or do not, there is no try. May the force be with you

i use battle.net to play but i installed it and sat in the menu for 5 minutes just to review the game and let everyone know the amount of stress it adds to my blood pressure. give us the option for OW1
