"Sword Legacy Omen" is the story of Uther, Merlin and Excalibur, if Glen Cook wrote it. Together with a strange squad of foul-mouthed criminals, thieving monks and just a one crazy Berserker-Scotsman, they set off on an adventure to rescue Uther's beloved woman, and in the process also glued Britain, shattered into pieces. The game is tough, there are a lot of obscene language in it, brutal cutting off of any parts of the body and barrels. Why barrels? Because barrels are the toughest thing in Britain in those times, you hate them.

From the very beginning, the game is very attractive with its look, the art is simply gorgeous and ideally suited to the theme being told. A little confused by the lack of voice in the dialogues, but for me it is a completely uncritical thing, this presentation of the story quite suits me. Animations are very colorful, especially when you perform a group combo, it is noticeable that in this component the developers tried to do everything at a high level, based on their capabilities. A large set of available characters will allow you to select a variety of different tactics of walkthrough. In terms of gameplay, the game carries the vibes from Darkest Dungeon and Blackguards, not the worst games in the genre that I love, but it is linear and focused on the progress of the plot.

The game obviously has a lot of problem things that can be improved and corrected in future games. This and the lack of adjustment of the level of difficulty (I’ll say that I had some problems only in the third act), I would like to see a hard difficulty, at least without saving at the level, for example. I would like more variety in the composition of missions (one or two stealth missions, protection from a siege), more various tactical capabilities (more extensive use of the terrain, for example). Again, the same barrels by the end of the game cause hatred, they are literally on every battlefield, in this sense it was possible putting in new mechanics. And with all that I see these flaws, the game still became my personal guilty pleasure, because there are more good things in it. This is also an anti-grind system that is embedded in the game, and encourages location research, not murder boars in the woods for the experience. Gambling exciting battles, when the level you can play on the last veins, with one surviving hero from your whole black squad. And an interesting lore colorfully describing every detail, be it a nondescript weapon, or a character. All these and other good things tipped the scales to positive impressions, I played it with pleasure. Not without rough edges, but the game is definitely good.

Glen Cook? So it's like Black Company mixed with Excalibur? Two of my favorite books and movies. I'll def have to check this out!
