Commandos: Origins is a prequel about the formation of the legendary commando squad during World War II. The game offers 14 story missions, each of which takes place in unique locations: from Arctic bases to African deserts and occupied European cities. Each mission is a kind of rebus, where it is important not only to destroy enemies, but also to do it as stealthily and effectively as possible, while also completing additional tasks. I like that the domino principle often works here. You get into some serious mess, all the enemies overlap each other with their cones of vision, and a sniper covers a huge area from above. Everything is against you, but you find a weak domino among the enemies, at the cost of enormous effort, you push it and everything begins to crumble. And for me this has always been almost the main pleasure in these games, to break the scheme, find a weakness, defeat an invincible system. The squad composition remained familiar to fans of the series: Green Beret, Sniper, Driver, Marine, Spy and Sapper. Each character has their own unique skills and inventory, they are really very different from each other. As for me, the Marine turned out to be incredibly pumped up, he is the only one with two long-range non-ending weapons, with which you can destroy almost any pair of enemies in a second, and if you also consider that he has distracting items ... He can complete any mission available to him alone, he is just an angry machine.

From a technical point of view, the game leaves mixed impressions. On the one hand, the graphics look decent: good lighting, well-designed character models and rich, bright locations. On the other hand, there are FPS drops, problems with AI, I had huge problems with transport (because I don’t understand the technical condition of the car at all and when it will explode, the behavior on the road is also not the best). The developers are actively working on patches, the game is actively changing for the better

Commandos: Origins is an honest attempt to revive the classics and show that the potential of the series has not faded away. The game is not perfect, but it retains the main thing - the spirit of tactical thinking, attention to detail and the joy of competent, unnoticeable action. A real gift for fans of the original series and those who miss a real tactical strategy.
