Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers

I will admit that I have a bias in favor of this game. I love dogs. I have a Boston Terrier. We love to play fetch together. And this Corgi looks like he/she would fit right in our family. However, this game is not a "Virtual Pet" game. You don't go on quests with your dog. There's really not that many personal interactions with your Corgi. It would have been nice to be able to pet or reward your Corgi with a treat after stunts.

This game is a pure sandbox game. There is a tutorial. And there are currently 12 examples. But for the most part, you are left to your own devices and your own imagination. Luckily, there's lots of toys to play with and experiment with, including stuff like hoops or trampolines or skateboards. The amount of props and animations is quite good for the pricetag. And you can have your Corgi walk, jump, stand, etc.

While it is fun to watch the examples within the game, they can be overwhelming. I did go ahead and watch all of them just so I had an idea of how to build my own obstacle course. Then I began to build my own simple course. That's really what the game is about. So if you love building things in VR, then this game is for you. I had several laughs trying to build my course and seeing the net result. Sometimes it failed horribly and those were actually the biggest laughs for me. And there was also a satisfaction when things went right.

You are able to teleport around. However, placing items can be more cumbersome that it needs to be. You laser point to items and then place them down. However, you can't use your joystick to place them the way you want. So you just have to teleport to where you want to place the item and do your best to manually stick the object exactly where you want. The play space is also rather small. There is only 1 environment: your backyard. So there's no going to a dog competition to show off your tricks or anything like that.

There's no in-game option to video record your tricks and share them with the world. I would have loved an option to record and upload video of my Corgi doing my created obstacle course to YouTube. You can obviously save your obstacle course so you can replay in-game but that means you can only share locally unless you get special recording software. This game really needs a Steam Workshop as well.

Rate 6.5/10

P.S. If you love the photo below, you should probably get this game. It was one of my hilarious accidental failures (Corgi rolled on the ground on fire, I tried to get it to jump over fire and roll on the device) :D
