Fantastic game, pinnacle of the genre. The story, though mostly in the background, is compelling and genuinely surprising. I look forward to playing it again after I have time to forget the solutions to the puzzles.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Nice graphics and a somewhat creepy atmosphere setup that goes nowhere fast.
This is not a horror game, it's not even a creepy game. The story raises a few questions, such as...why did your character come home on short notice after leaving a sobbing message on the answering machine? Why did the previous owner die, and what did he do to be disowned by his family? Why is the house called the psycho house? These are questions never answered.
Instead, we get to hear the whinings of an angsty average teen who discovers she's a lesbian and dyes her hair and becomes a feminist with her stereotype butch lesbian feminist girlfriend. They do some occult ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that leads to literally nothing and then they give up on all their asperations in life to run away together, the end. That's literally all, and it's literally just as bland as my recounting of it. I was hoping at least I'd find the sister committed suicide in the attic, but nope...nothing interesting happens ever. The end.

Early Access Review
This is one of those rare early access games where they wouldn't even have to finish it for it to be well worth what I paid for it. The idea that they're going to add MORE to this game just makes it even better. The graphics are beautiful, the controls are streamlined, there's just the right mix of danger and casual exploration, and the pacing is very good (provided you don't repeatedly overlook a vital piece of equipment you need to further your exploration, but guides help with that). There's a few bugs, mostly around base building, but nothing game-breaking that I've seen. I really hope they'll expand the map later, as right now it's fairly easy to span the whole distance within the first couple hours of playing (though the depth is another story).

Game is very short but very charming. I enjoyed it so much that I played it through three times in a row. I MUCH prefer this one to its sequel as well. Your baby badgers actually grow as you feed them and there's a real sense of accomplishment for bringing them to safety. Losing one, however......tragic.

Early Access Review
Even in early access, this quickly became my favorite survival game.

The scenery is beautiful, even stunningly so at times. The survival elements are challenging and unforgiving, and your biggest enemy can often times be just the weather. All your actions must be taken into account. Every resource--including time--carefully rationed. Even staying in one area too long can spell trouble...but woe to you if get caught outside during a blizzard unprepared!

With its different difficulty modes it's extremely easy for beginners to get into, not having to contend with as many challenges, and able to easy themselves into the more difficult gameplay. Currently it seems that perpetual survival isn't feasibly possible (though no one has thus far survived long enough to drain all resources), though I hope someday it will be.

All in all though, I think it's thoroughly worth the price even as in its current state, and I would continue to play it even if they never finished it.

The puzzles are sometimes rather too straightforward, but the characters and story are pretty amusing and interesting. I wish it was a little longer, but I enjoyed it while it lasted. Just wish I'd known I was capable of running BEFORE the end of the game.

It starts out just a silly, amusing, sometimes cute little dating sim that for some oddball reason involves birds...but then you get to the "bonus" arch and are hit with a tidalwave of deepening plot, shock and awe, and many, many feels. Couldn't understand why this game had gotten such overwhelmingly positive reception until I reached that stage...now I know.

Often lackluster gameplay, but an engaging story where your choices actually matter, even if at times the 'right' choice is obvious. For the price it's worth a playthrough, especially if you can get it on sale. And though I don't regret my purchase at all, I have some critiques to point out.

Warning as *SPOILERS* FOLLOW!

A lot of the choices NECESSARY for moving on in the story do not seem like pertinant information, and while the game is attempting to be a cautionary tale against mass survaillence, even with my pre-existing stance AGAINST mass survaillence, and the game becoming rather heavy handed in this stance at the end, it STILL failed to make an actual case against it IF you were doing your job properly.
In the end the system works exactly as it should and helps you find the actual perpetrators while freeing the innocent, but then the VILLAIN you've been pursuing the entire time has the gall to suggest that you reward them for their crimes and tear down the system for no good reason except that you too are being survailled, which is spoken as if it's meant to be a great revelation, when really it's just kind of the obvious logical conclusion one would make when working for a mass survaillence program. The game fails to give any GOOD reason why you should want to tear the system down but pressures you toward TWO options of how to do it. I ended up wanting to just carry on with my job and arrest the person I'd been after because the system had worked so well and exactly as intended, I couldn't see a reason it HAD to be torn down. None of the ending options are very satisfying either...

But all in all, I still really enjoyed playing it and imagine others would as well.

I'm usually all for 'experiencial' games...this one is too little, too slow. Also it seems to me the entire point of it being a serene piece of nature is entirely defeated when your mountain becomes irreversibly littered with giant garbage that you can't stop and can't get rid of, making your once beautiful mountain look like a garbage dump...and this is supposedly 'desirable' in this game... Should have been unique plants or animals, not ugly manmade junk, marring the otherwise natural landscape. Not fun, not worth even the 99 cents I paid for it. playing music on the keys was fun briefly...but even that wasn't worth the pricetag or the time wasted on it.

Playing this game makes me feel like a cynical, dead-end, paper-pusher who has to endure the onslaught of idiots and their rage... I now know what it must feel like to work at the DMV, and yet......I can't stop.
