A Summer's End Review
A well produced Western Visual novel. Set in the 1980s Hong Kong, and the presentation, the UI, music, the artwork, story, really enhances the experience and makes you feel like you are in that decade. Yuri, lgbt gamers, and romance fans will appreciate this visual novel's style, and grounded and realistic love story.

Story
A simple love story. it isn't a groundbreaking visual novel story, and it is a pretty short (>5hr) story but the story that is presented is pretty good and believable. Tells the story of
how OL Michelle meets and falls in love with flim/record store owner Sam and their struggles. Michelle and Sam feel like real people and their relationship is fun and cute and realistic. There are a few weird supernatural elements in the plot but that added to the setting as they were cultural elements I guess. Felt a little weird to read though.

Choices
While this visual novel presents different choices sometimes in the story, this visual novel only has two endings, and unless you want to read a few lines of different text, the different choices you can make seem worthless because there's only one way to unlock all the CGs. With that in mind, new players should save their time and follow a guide so they can get the two endings that will unlock all the CGs without having to replay just to get aftercredits CGs.

Setting
The statement at the ending credits says how they wanted to express 80s Hong Kong and not just use it as a backdrop and I found Hong Kong very well expressed. I am not from Hong Kong nor am I old enough but it was very believable that this story could have taken place there with many references to the 1997 handover of Hong Kong and what I imagine the real anxieties of the Hong Kong people, to being a working women in 1980s Hong Kong, and to pop culture references. It is very obvious the authors had done a lot of research about the setting to greatly enhance the story.

Sex Scenes
There is a free 18+ patch that you can download so make sure you read the manual. There is not a lot of sex scenes as this main focus is on the plot and due to the length of this VN, but they sex scenes we did get were fine. The art was good but not explicit, hardly shown nudity expect in one scene, and the text depicted the sex more than the art. The focus of this VN is the love story not the sex, the sex is just a part of Sam and Michelle's story. So if you bought this to get off, play Sono Hanabira. The art is really good I wouldn't mind a nukige someday with that artist.

LGBT themes
A major theme of the plot was being gay and struggling to accept being with the same sex while not wanting to disappoint your family. It wasn't gay angst but it is important part of Michelle’s story which I really appreciated Michelle's struggle with being gay but also trying to make her Mom happy and I could relate to not wanting to disappoint her family. Whenever Michelle got in trouble I cringed. and when she
came out I almost banged my head against the table because I knew what her Mom would say
The ending was satisfying and I teared up when
it looked like the Mom might accept Sam and Michelle.

While this story is really short it is good and I could see the plot being a really good movie and beats a lot of LGBT movies made.

Art and music
The art and the music really support the 1980s setting. I liked pretty much all the tracks. I don't know 1980s music but the music fits what I imagine the 1980s to sound like. I wish they had a music player in the visual novel so I could listen to the tracks more. The art also fits the setting. Man those CGs are really well done and the characters are cute. I could imagine Michelle being a really Asian lady. Looks like my Youtube citypop art covers. Really well done, if only all Western VNs had gorgeous art like this.

Conclusion
This is a really stylish visual novel. It oozes 1980s style. The style sets this visual novel apart
but the story is also really well done. I could see this VNs story as a movie. It is very believable. The price is $14.99 and very short but the production and story made the price worth to me. Just to support the efforts of the creators because how hard they worked in this visual novel and how how quality it is. We need to support more Western Visual novels like this!
