Highly recommended. Great story with very interesting setting and likable characters. Gameplay felt simple at first but evolved into a very engaging system, requiring careful thinking and deckbuilding to defeat many of the later fights. If you're looking for a game with great story, and a fan of card games or turn based strategy games, try this game out!

The playstyle of The Banner Saga reminds me a lot of VIsual Novels. While the gameplay and combat is fun, It doesn't really contribute anything special to the story. A large part of the game is spent just watching your caravan move and occasionally making choices. The story is what really makes it a great game. The Banner Saga throws you into the middle of action and slowly reveal what happens throughout, keeping you engaged. While the one save style might not appeal to some people, I feel like it helps make the game more engaging as it make decisions more important since you either have to continue with a bad decision or set yourself back a significant amount of time.

The game does have some areas that could be improved though. Having a fast forward feature and options to skip combat could help, as after the first playthrough it gets a bit tedious since the main story doesn't really change much.

Overall I would definitely recommend this game, it was a fun, if slightly short playthrough and I'm looking forward to the sequels.
