The Renovator is a very short Russian horror game that clocks in at about 15 minutes of playtime. Within it, there are a couple of puzzles, a few notes to read, and a handful of voice lines. It's well worth noting that the voice acting is entirely in Russian, with English subtitles. There are also two endings, with the second one being able to be speedrun in less than 5 minutes. Despite the lack of content, this title does offer up some decent scares, though it does feel like a smaller portion of a larger project that was abandoned and never finished; especially since there are remnants of what seem to be other incomplete puzzles.

There's very little in the way of story, and much of the game relies on triggering progression events by wandering around a small workshop. It's not always clear where a certain noise has come from, so you may find yourself doing circuits around the workshop to find progression points. Additionally, if you go straight for a second playthrough after your first, the game remembers a crucial item that you picked up from the second-half of the game, and you are able to bypass an entire section and skip straight to getting whichever ending you didn't go for the first time. The Renovator isn't necessarily a bad little horror game, but it is short and lacking. If it's on sale for a few cents, check it out if you have nothing better to play.

Rating: 2.5/5.0 - It's not awful, but it's not great.
