LONG time Bungie fan - my first game of theirs was "Marathon" way back in the mid 90's on my Macintosh Performa 575, lol. After that was Halo 1 on PC, and now here on PC again for Destiny 2. As the years have gone by many things have changed in FPS gaming, but one thing that has remained consistent between all of these Bungie titles is the immersive world-building. The feeling of dread I experienced the first time I loaded into "The Rose" which was an intensely challenging level on Marathon, complete with a horror-inducing soundtrack... The simultaneously enigmatic and beautiful ambiance of patrolling Nessus and spelunking it's many cyber-organic cave systems... the LORE behind each and every chapter of each of these games is just astoundingly rich (if you're willing to dig around different places to find all of it, not always in-game). I love Destiny 2 because it really scratches that itch for escapism and adventure - the gunplay is top-notch, the sound-design for the weaponry is crunchy and satisfying and the environments are colorful and enveloping - all of these things when combined with the rich and deep lore/worldbuilding behind them truly come together to present something memorable; something worth revisiting time and again. Thank you Bungie for continuing to provide this platform we can use to live out our Cyber-Wizard/Gunslinger/SpaceMarine
FPS fantasies!
