THE STORY THUS FAR... (in both Japanese and English for reasons I'm unable to remember)
遥か彼方、「Pain（ペイン）」と呼ばれる世界でのこと……。
Far, far away, in a world known as "Pain"....

そこは狂気に満ちた時代でした。見捨てられた世界「Pain」にある廃城の奥深くで、生きた肉の巨大な塊が謎めいた形で誕生したのです。誰が、あるいは何のためにそれを作ったのかは誰にも分かりません。それは言葉を発することも、征服を望むこともなく、ただ一つの目的――伝説の「CRAZYDAVES（クレイジーデイブ）」を創造すること――だけを抱いていました。
It was an era steeped in madness. Deep within a ruined castle in the forsaken world of "Pain," a colossal mass of living flesh came into being in a mysterious fashion. No one knew who had created it, or for what purpose. It neither spoke nor harboured any desire for conquest; it possessed but a single objective: to create the legendary "CRAZYDAVES."

完全に常軌を逸してはいましたが、クレイジーデイブたちは忠実に、神話上の生き物やあらゆる種類の奇妙な存在を大地に生み出し、その他諸々の「クソみたいな何か」も作り出していきました。彼らの奇妙な文明は存続していましたが……運命が最大の過ちをもたらします。5000番目のクレイジーデイブが誕生したのです。
Though completely unhinged, Crazy Dave and his cohorts faithfully populated the land with mythical creatures, all manner of bizarre beings, and other ♥♥♥♥. Their strange civilization endured—until fate dealt its greatest blunder: the birth of the 5,000th Crazy Dave.

「CRAZYDAVE5000」の名で知られる彼は、その中でも最も狂っていると宣言されました。運命の呪いか、あるいは単に「破滅的な無能さ」という才能に恵まれていたのか、この新入りは明らかに不安定な柱にうっかりぶつかってしまいます。その結果、城は崩壊し、他の4999人のクレイジーデイブ全員が、壮絶な事故によって押し潰されてしまったのです。
Known as "CRAZYDAVE5000," he was declared the craziest of them all. Whether by a curse of fate or simply because he was gifted with a talent for "catastrophic incompetence," this newcomer accidentally bumped into a clearly unstable pillar. The resulting collapse brought the castle down, crushing all 4,999 other Crazy Daves in a spectacular accident.

種がほぼ絶滅する中、あの生きた肉の塊は次世代を生み出そうと準備していましたが……クレイジーデイブ5000が誤ってその巨大な肉の塊に火をつけてしまいました。
As the species neared extinction, that living mass of flesh was preparing to produce the next generation... but Crazy Dave 5000 accidentally set the giant lump of meat on fire.

……と、彼は主張しています。
...at least, that's what he said happened.

しかし、その大火災は決して事故などではなかったと囁く者もいます。「最も狂ったクレイジーデイブ」となったことで彼の中に何か邪悪なものが目覚め、混沌へと突き進む悪の道が始まったのだ、と。当然ながら、デイブ本人はそんなの完全なデタラメだと主張しています。真実は謎のままです。
However, there are those who whisper that the great fire was no mere accident. They claim that becoming "The Maddest Crazy Dave" awakened something evil within him, setting him on a path of wickedness that plunged him into chaos. Naturally, Dave himself insists that this is utter nonsense. The truth remains a mystery.

The following few years are shrouded in mystery. Somehow, CrazyDave5000 eventually found his way to Steam, where he made a startling discovery: he realized that even after sustaining a fatal wound, he could 'regenerate', shamelessly ripping off Doctor Who.

最初の再生で、彼は『TF2』のエンジニアから、映画『フェイス/オフ』のニコラス・ケイジへと姿を変えました。
Upon the first replay, he transformed from the Engineer from TF2 into Nicolas Cage from "Face/Off".

And so, the sole survivor, Crazy Dave, continues his journey—armed with an unstoppable regenerative ability, a calamitous destiny (or perhaps good fortune?), and a level of chaos that threatens to make something explode wherever he goes.
