Early Access Review
10 hours in, and I broke a quest. SO IT IS JUST LIKE MORROWIND :-D

Spoilers ahead, and a recommendation to the devs for this and similar occurances.

The early quest "Nuisance" from Pichess. He asks you to retrieve a shipment that has been ambushed south of town. There is an item called "Pichess' Sack"... you give it to Pichess, he gives you a key to the old shack in town.

I didn't ask him about the quest early on, and wound up finding the shipment on my own. I then attempted to sell Pichess his own sack, but the game simply said "He's not interested in this".

As I had no home or place to store goods, I just kept it, figuring it might be for something else later. Well later, when I was over-encumbered, I wound up dropping the sack.

Lo and behold, when I finally start that quest after looking up how to unlock the house in town, Pichess gives me the quest, but the bag is not there, nor do I have any clue where in my 10 hour journey I left it.

I even attempted to search through the console item list to find it, but was unable to.

FIX: When you give a quest item to an NPC before the quest started, it should automatically start the quest. Especially in a quest where the NPC is able to describe the sack and its location in great detail...

Or if a quest item drops from your inventory, it should respawn in its original location if the quest has not been started yet. As is, I cannot unlock my house now (at least through legit means).

All that said... loving the game so far. Would recommend.

I'm appalled at the lack of content. And it's not even what was promised vs what was delivered. It's that there's nothing there. Everything you would want in a sandbox game is just missing.

The game physics and mechanics are all bland and boring. Flight is an autopilot affair when on a planet. It holds you at a specific altitude so you don't crash into the ground. You point the nose of the craft where you want to go, and it lazily takes you there. You don't control landings, just press a button and it will land. And never in the spot you want to land. See that landing pad. Let's miss it by 50'.

Space flight is even worse. Sure, you're free to cruise at predetermined speeds, but visibility is garbage. The game only renders asteroids around 100yd in front of your ship. The asteroids are EVERYWHERE. I mean EVERYWHERE. There is never a time in space when you are NOT in an asteroid field. Do me a favor... look at the trailer for NMS posted on the Steam Store page. See how there are a few hundred asteroids neatly clustered, and see how he's cleanly piloting around them. The game is nothing like that. They just materialize in front of you as you're flying, with no way to really fly around becuase the ship feels like you're flying in Jell-O.

The NPCs are non existent. I've seen more characters in NES top down RPGs. The aliens you meet in buildings just stand there. Doing nothing but occasionally waving their arms. They provide nothing to story or gameplay, and simply take up space.

The buildings you were supposed to see were going to be randomly generated, and provide endless gameplay. There are around a dozen buildings, all the same, with the same loot inside. There's nothing random about them, as each one is prebuilt and then randomly placed at near equal distance apart from each other on planets.
The animals, which were supposed to have some sort of AI, wander around aimlessly doing absolutely nothing. There's a bubble around the aggressive ones, and if you cross it, they will ram you and barely damage you. The peaceful ones just wander the planet, oblivious to you.

Space flight is terrible, as every ship, from the smallest fighter to the slightly less small (but still single person) freighter you can fly are all identical in every way, minus cargo space.
There's no crafting, no survival, no enemies, no flight, no RPG, no NPCs, no story, no adventure, no exploring, no danger, and nothing interesting outside of the first hour of gameplay.

DO NOT waste your money.

All of this is said before I even get to the performance on PC. Dreadful, even with all community found fixes (Borderless window, AA off, GSync off in config file, etc. etc. etc.). Getting 40fps max on a Xeon E5-2680v3 and an R9 390 8GB.
