Do your research, check for bugs, know the flaws - if you're unaffected by the big ones, get in there cos the game rules.
Disappointingly excellent game surrounded by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Overall, cannot recommend until the process of accessing this game is friendlier

If someone told me about a game that's like RE5, Dark Souls and Diablo slapped together I'd tell them that sounds like hot trash and laugh at them. Somehow, Remant manages to pull it off in a "best possible outcome" kind of way.
The survival/action nature of RE, the general feel of a souls-like and the somewhat random nature of loot and maps from ARPGs brings this game together in one of the most satisfying and surprising ways I've ever seen.
It's really rare you'd find a game where the base game, DLC and each additional mode all feel exciting in their own way, but this game definitely manages that. Hardcore, Adventure and Survival all have plenty to offer and feel like fresh playthroughs with a twist, not to mention their own rewards that will trickle back to your standard story-mode character.

There's an unfortunate truth to how inadequate the melee is as a main option despite the amount of gear focused on precisely that, and it seems like this is being addressed in the sequel, and there are some times where your difficulty may spike to obscene levels for a single encounter

My only real pressing gripe is with some of the common bugs.
There have been several noted times where party members have just fallen dead from nothing more than running, people getting stuck in what appears to be the floor, weird item bugs where their effects are just non-existent, disconnects, crashes, etc. These kind of things are normally an inconvenience, but during the Survival or Hardcore, these can be absolute run enders and a blemish on a co-op session.

Product-wise it's an absolute joy to play when it works, just gotta roll those dice and hope the gods smile on you. If they do you're in for a good one.

I would giv this game 5 whole thums up (1 for me, 4 for my wife) but the game likes to crash, stutter, and disconnect me from my friends. 4 whole thums up until fix'd please fromsoft plz fix

This recommend comes with a warning; if you don't like the sound of watching roughly 5 hours of police interview video, this game is not for you.
I found myself mostly enjoying the experience. Connecting the strange dots between each interview to distinguish fact from fiction is difficult when the line between the two is blurred with supernatural subtext and a group of suspects that lie like it's breathing.
The acting from each cast member is spotty and green, but satisfying nonetheless. The absolute highlight comes from Ruth, who will at times remind you so much of your local Karen you'll want to send her to jail on the spot, and other times will spark so much interest it's hard to accept that you've watched all her videos.
Overall Interrogation Files is a well realised project with some amateurish rough edges that can mostly be ignored due to the fun of the ride.

What starts as a horrifying experience does eventually lead to a bit of a item-finding slog, but the vast majority of At Dead of Night is an extremely fun and tense experience with a mostly simple and easy to use control style.
This game brings back memories of a long gone Hotel 626 but with a clearer and more realised vision, and the cast all do a good job but it's nothing spectacular with the exception of Huld Martha, who delivers a noteworthy performance as Jimmy/Hugo.
A definite grab for FMV fans.
