Just finished the game, so here's some quick thoughts:

It's nice to see this DLC released after 8 years of waiting, and I have to say it didn't disappoint! The artwork is great, the music is great, and the gameplay is great! It very much evolves on the original gameplay loop, and I found it was very satisfying and very fun! There's more I could say (so I might come back and expand this review), but know that this is totally worth the 8 bucks!

This demo certainly has flaws. The enemies are very, very spongey for how much they're spammed. A flashlight and a zoom ability would be appreciated. The lock-on aiming works inconsistently, and the knockback is a little janky. However, despite that, I really really enjoyed the game! The art direction is very striking. As poorly balanced as it is, I was enjoying the gunplay. The lore is super interesting, and the music is suuuper good and very atmospheric! I'm looking forward to the full game!

I didn't expect the Mario and Luigi influence, and it is very very welcome lmao! Demo is fantastic! Definitely one of my most anticipated releases

Pretty damn good beta. Been having some server issues, but tbh its been running pretty well for me. The gameplay is banging, the portals still feel fun to use. The microtransactions are a little weird but ultimately not an issue imo cause its only cosmetics and its clear the team is commited to supporting the game

Very fun time! The whole game is oozing with style! I thought it was gonna be kind of easy at first, but it really ramped up quick. One thing I was surprised about the most is how in certain aspects it's closer to classic boomer shooters than other games with the label. Primarily in the secret hunting, way the levels are structured, and how each weapon is found and used. It creates a fun mix with the more modern game-play and movement. Definitely worth playing!

This game is great! Its a fun take on the more traditional boom-shoot formula, with incredible artwork, unique weapon and enemy design, and overall fun game play. Just getting to explore the world and atmosphere created in this game is enough to make it worthwhile. The sound design is overall great too: , everything emits these weird, otherworldly noises that are either too squishy or too crunchy (which I mean positively). Its a game that's really dug itself into my brain, and for the low price of absolutely-free, its definitely worth playing.

That being said, I think it's got a lot of flaws too. The ammunition is very, very stingy: I don't know if it's because I wasn't exploring secrets enough or what, but I found myself out of ammo a LOT. It got especially bad towards the end, where a lot of very tanky enemies are introduced. The uniqueness of each gun is a strength of the game, but it also leads to a lot of them having weird design choices that make them either hard to use or pretty situational. That ice-staff should have been a hitscan weapon, and the shotgun is practically a melee weapon that's really, really ammo-hungry. I assume the Bloodrail is meant to be the long-range weapon, but I never really got to use it because again it uses up so much ammo that's so hard to get.

Despite all that, Shrine II is definitely worth playing. It's unique, creepy atmosphere couple with amazing artwork and super fun world-building/aesthetics makes this game a great time despite it's flaws. Excited to see Shrine 3!

This game is great fun. I showed this to my friends, and we've played it every lunch since (albiet on his computer, because my school one can't run it). However, there are somethings I would like to note.

While the game functions fine when playing local, online is glitchy as all hell. Going through floors, weird weapon physics, and other small stuff like that are what keep this game from it's true potential. However, the gameplay is really fun, especially when playing with a friend. I would also like a bit more chaotic things. Snakes are cool, but what about other animals? And the maps can be boring at times too.

Despite all the negitivity I just spouted out, I really love this game, and have had some GREAT times with my friends with this. Just becaue of that, I'll rate it a thumbs up, but only barely. I think they really need to fix the bugs and add some things., but otherwise it's amazing.
