A pretty fun little game. Sadly though, there really isn't all that much to it. Two floors in the ruins, two floors in the sewers, two floors in the frozen zone, and two levels in the fire zone, with a final level to beat the game. Yes, the levels are randomly generated, but that doesn't really help to give the game much in replay value. This is because the enemies are always the same on each level, including the mini bosses that you have to defeat to go down lower.

In fact, having the randomised levels can often be a pain. Several times I saw rooms, or even entire portions of the map, blocked off by random objects that you cannot break through. This was particularly noticeable in the sewers with the fallen masonry, and in the frozen area with all of the crystals.

In one hand you get a ranged weapon, a staff that can shoot different kinds of projectiles, and in the other hand a melee weapon that does less damage for a faster swing, or more damage for a slower swing. Once you have played through a level it is nearly impossible to fail. You will have memorised how the 3-5 enemies on that level react, move, and attack. In the end it all boils down to: shoot ranged enemies while moving side to side, and kite melee enemies backwards while you swing. There is not much more to the AI than this sadly.

After about three runs through the game I became bored, of the combat, of the levels and enemies. There are 'mutations' that you can activate by purchasing them with your score at the end of a run. They are seemingly there to add extra difficulty or flavour so that you keep playing, but none of them seemed all that interesting and didn't really change too much. Other than the ones that cost the score of an entire successful run, but they were 'start the game with 1 hit point and never get more' and 'you take one hit point of damage every thirty seconds.' Just sounds painful, not fun.

Ultimately, while it was a little bit of fun, I have to give it a negative review. That is the problem, it is only a little, short, bit of fun. I only really got about three hours out of it. The other two of those were me going AFK and forgetting that I had left the game on.
