Nidus is a borderline unparsable experience. Existence in this ecosystem is a violent blend of colors, fractals, and aberrant insectoids that I can barely follow in preview videos, and yet I’ve played 7 hours of this game already. I feel like a buzzsaw of killing, wreathed in essence and circled by railgun stickbugs, sawtooth mosquitos, hordes of exploding ticks, and thorny flower blossoms. Even with how insane the game looks, there’s a pattern to it that can be learned and mastered through excellent enemy design, color implementation, and combat tuning.

I think this game is more than worth a try for anyone interested in top down arcade shooter experiences. It is wonderfully unique, utterly terrifying, and finely tuned. I really can’t recommend it enough for 10 dollars, I felt I’ve already gotten more than my money’s worth and I haven’t even beaten it yet.
