I got addicted. The mechanics are so fun i love it. It's like a mix of Shadow of the Colossus, BotW and Monster Hunter. Very fun. Story and characters are good too.

I knew this game was about anxiety and depression when i started, as it says in the warning before you play this game, but even then i did not expect this to affect me so emotionally. It left me crying for a few minutes after i finished it for reasons i can't or don't really want to put into words in this review.

The game play itself was very enjoyable. Felt like an old PS1 type horror game with a few different ways for controls. Like WASD movement or tank controls or mouse clicking or a virtual joystick (didn't try playing with an actual controller as i found WASD perfectly fine.)
I'm not very good at puzzles in games at times so i was worried i was gonna be a bit lost and will need guides to help me but i did not need one a single time and the puzzles were super enjoyable and satisfying to solve, you even get a few hints from a character if you struggle.

Such a good game. A solid 9/10 and worth my money. <3

So far, overall the game feels really good to play. The combat is the most important part of this and that is the best part of this game. It truly feels like a Budokai Tenkaichi but modern. With actual real improvements that make it feel more anime-like. Way faster and more fluent combat. Now i'm not saying it's better than any of the BT games, but it is distinct enough to be it's own game while also fitting in with the BT franchise.

Some of the negatives come from smaller details that most BT fans will most likely care about. The style and sense of atmosphere in menus and UI's is lacking a LOT. Every character's icon is the same profile shot. With character like Piccolo and Piccolo Fused with Kami, literally the same profile icon, so you can't tell them apart. It would have benefited from the BT3 style 2D art of characters SO SO SO much. It saddens me it's not here.

Another negative is a possibly very nitpicky minor detail, but one i care so much about. When you go to play the tournaments, again, the art style is just not there in menus, feels like an unfinished part of the game that is there to just showcase that it functions instead of looking like the stylized real thing should. And when you get into the tournament ranking you don't even have enough time to properly look at the characters participating in it. The game auto progresses to the match. Something that i always loved doing, looking at the characters participating, my potential opponents, speculating how fun it would be if Videl went on to beat Ultimate Gohan or "How does a Shadow Dragon loose to a primitive android from the OG DB series?" Small stuff like that missing from this game ads up to a worse experience.
These are some of the biggest things i care about.

I could say so much more but at the end of the day the combat is there and it is SO much fun. I love this game and i cannot wait to spend countless hours playing it whenever i get that DBZ crave, which is often. Strong recommend for any DB fan.
