wow. I mean I respect the hustle of putting your EP up on Steam as a free game, but between the earr*pe volume, the grating midi guitar loops, and the incomprehensible & extremely distorted vocals, this is some of the worst music I've ever listened to; and as a game that's really just a music showcase, if the music sucks, the game sucks.

Man, it's such a shame that the story was such a flop.
Look, I get it, everything's pointless and you should just enjoy the experience- but uhh..

as much as the gameplay, music, and visuals have improved and are clearly showing how they can hard carry; the story in the first game was something I could dig into, get attached to characters and get somewhat emotional over. The only thing I felt here was confusion. I get that that's the point but... no bueno.

THAT BEING SAID, I'm still obligated to give this a positive review because of how amazing the rest of the game is. Viewing it as an arcade-y romp instead of a deep story is probably how it was intended to be seen anyways. Combat feels great, difficulty is a little dulled from the first game focusing on one shots instead of no-hits, but it is what it is. Music is fantastic as always, visuals are trippy and fun to get lost in. If only the story piece was there, I'd feel a lot less conflicted.

I'm so confused. They took MH: World, put some sand in it, and suddenly it can't run on any console or mid-tier computer.

words cannot describe my disdain for this game. play literally anything else.
your time is worth more than buggy microtransaction filled ccp censored comp shooter slop.

Previously had an angry rant here, if you wanna read it, I archived it in the comments.

The game is good, has a charming aesthetic and dialogue, but has glaring flaws.

The overarching point I had before is that this game should not be a roguelite. The early game it sends you back to after losing or winning is boring after the first few runs, the meta progression is borderline unnoticeable minus a few standouts like temporal and repairing storage; and the game just flat out decides to kill you sometimes. (1st/2nd reactor, that man, etc.)

If this game was a linear experience, I would've enjoyed it much more- but that being said, I'm still on track to 100% it. It's not a bad game by any means, it just has very heavy rooted design flaws that I'm sure another developer will learn from to release their own, greater title.

I play a lot of shovelware so I'm used to playing really bad games. That being said-

wow.

Never have I ever been so jaw-droppingly stunned. I have no words.
I recommend anyone seeing this review to play it themselves. That's the only way you can understand.

I wanted to take the time to review this game since it doesn't have that much coverage, and I personally enjoyed my time playing.

Marimoth is a Galaga-style bullet hell that runs for about 5 levels and 5 bosses, with 3 powerups and 1-2 potential revives. It's really fun! It's simple and easy to understand, there's the constant tug of war between wanting to dive for coins and dodging bullets, as one who doesn't typically play these kinds of games, I was pleasantly surprised.

I also took the time to earn and complete the secret level, which was a great challenge that put my skills to the test. In order to get to the secret level you have to play levels 1-4 without getting hit. I had to change my entire play-style to adapt to this. I would precisely shoot down enemies in the first stage to farm for coins, hoping to earn an upgrade per level in order to focus solely on dodging by the fourth stage.

Although, thank god you don't have to flawless the fifth stage- cause it highlights a couple of my main gripes with the game. Some things are just impossible to dodge lol. There are enemies that move/shoot almost completely horizontal, forcing you into a corner where you can be easily targeted by any of the homing units or overwhelmed by any of the spread shot ones. My other gripes are little things like problems with visual clarity, coins flying all the way across the screen so you can't catch them, or that tabbing in and out is a little bit finicky.

But other than that, solid game.

fishin'. byeah.

cute chat room game that psychopaths like me strive to 100% complete, forcing ourselves to bash our heads against a wall for days trying to get a 0.333% chance (or lower) fish for that sweet sweet colored fishing rod.

would recommend for the socially awkward and clinically insane demographics

I can't recommend a game that ties performance to the size of your Steam block list. Unplayable on its own, only made enjoyable through community mods and patches.
