tModLoader is for those who already enjoy Terraria, but wish to expand upon the game's content. With a built-in mod browser, it's extremely easy to look through the wide assortment of usermade mods for whatever catches your interest! It's also very simple to update and organize your mods, allowing for quickly switching between mods to suit your individual runs.

As I dont have much to say on the mod loader itself, I'll take a minute to mention some mods I would recommend for someone looking to get into modded Terraria:

Calamity: One of if not the most popular mods, it adds a massive amount of content to the game alongside a whole series of progression after the usual final boss. It makes some rebalances to some vanilla content that was a bit too strong, and adds new difficulty levels that I feel change the game in a much better, more substantial way than vanilla Terraria's Master Mode.

Thorium: Another major content mod that aims to be more balanced towards vanilla content, unlike Calamity rebalancing to suit itself. Among its additions is 2 new classes, Bard and Healer, who provide support-focused roles for teamplay, or as a solid choice for solo content.

Fargo's Souls: Did you ever feel like base Terraria didnt reward the player enough for collecting things? Well this mod adds a whole suite of new accessories made from sets of themed items that grant various bonuses, all of which eventually combine into the totally overkill Soul of Terraria. Have fun, 100%ers!

Magic Storage: With all the new stuff added in these mods, Magic Storage allows you to easily manage all of your storage from 1 interface thats easy to understand and upgrade as you progress through the game

Terraria was, has, and forever will be one of my favorite games I've ever played. It's the first game I purchased on Steam, and is the reason I made a Steam account in the first place. It's a wonderful mix of platformer, sandbox and RPG elements that have continuously drawn me back to play more. With 4 main character classes: Melee, Ranger, Mage and Summoner, there's plenty of strategies to try in your first and subsequent playthroughs.

For anyone first getting into Terraria I would recommend doing Normal mode for your first playthrough, as Journey I feel treads a bit too close to a creative mode for new players to experience Terraria as intended. For those wishing for more of a challenge, Expert mode changes up Boss fights and adds unique loot to each one, while making it easier to find rare drops in general. I feel Expert mode also improves the overall multiplayer experience, as the Treasure Bags that bosses drop make it so that you and your friends are fighting over who gets the loot. I DO NOT ADVISE PLAYING ON MASTER IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE GAME. Master difficulty takes the changes Expert mode makes and couples them with what I consider to be bloated enemy stats, while the only new rewards available in it being bragging rights.

For it's price, I whole-heartedly recommend Terraria to anyone with a vague interest in sandbox survival games. If it's on sale I would recommend it to anyone who doesnt already have the game in their library!
