TL;DR: Ultimate Chicken Horse is a very good game for playing both by local and online multiplayer from 2 to 4 players, especially in these hard times where some people are still locked in their house because of the pandemic, I recommend it!

Long Review: Ultimate Chicken Horse is a platform game where the goal is to place traps and platforms to reach the flag of a level, while at the same time you try to prevent your friends from reaching that flag, this might sound simple, and maybe you're right, but this simple concept is put in a way, that makes it really fun to play with your friends, family or even strangers online

Let's go by parts:

Traps and Platforms, and the Goal

I would consider this the main part of the game, because this is what makes the game unique and stand out of the rest. There's a lot of and Platforms in this game, from a simple wood plank to a machine that creates paper planes, while also having traps like a crossbow shooting constant arrows, or a literal black hole.

All of the players pick up one (unless there's only 2 players, in which case both pick 2) of some random traps and platforms before starting the round (called in this game by turn), and then need to place these in the level. You can place these anywhere in the level (as long as it's marked by a White and blue/light blue grid)

The Maps/Levels

At the moment of writing this review, there's 17 Official Maps in the game (you start with 2, you need to unlock the others 15) with a lot more that are community made (accesible though the water well), at the start the maps are very basic both in size and in theme, you know, one farm, a windwill, etc. But while you unlock more levels, the levels will change from theme, and also will have a lot more of space compared to the first ones, and I would say that this is where the real fun begins, since you aren't restricted to that tiny space of the first levels.

The way to unlock the maps (or characters, or even cosmetics), is though getting a Box, you can see in what level it is available if you see a "?" sign in a certain level, once you and your friends go there, the Box will appear randomly though the level, and one of you needs to reach it if you want to unlock something, keep in mind that you need to play on all your maps for a chance for the box to appear (you don't need to play and complete all of your levels everytime to unlock everything, just play your recently unlocked level, and if it doens't appear, play other level, then it should appear later on)

The Controls

(This part is focused in the Controllers, but keep in mind that you can play with keyboard, and change their bindings to your choice!)

The controls are fairly easy to learn, with A/Cross you Jump, with X/Square you run, with Y/Triangle you dance, and with B/Circle you "abandon" (Didn't tried this in Online, but in Local your character dies for that turn), with the LB and RB/L1 and R1 you rotate the traps and platforms that you pick, and of course, you can move both with the left analog stick or with the directional pad

The Graphics

For some, this may not seem important (especially in this game), but for me, the graphics that this game have are beautiful, and the game can run in any PC, even in a potato!

Local... or Online!

One last part before we finish the review, you can play both in Local or in Online Multiplayer, or you can even play with some friends locally while also playing online! (I think there's an achievement for that), keep in mind that while playing in Local, your Steam Nickname won't show up, instead, it will show the name of your character

While playing in Online, you can play in one of 3 Locations, USA, Europe, and Asia, and this is the "bad" part of the game, since the servers are only available in those places, but when you are (for example) in South America, and want to play online with others, you need to go with the lag that comes with it.

Ultimate Chicken Horse is a must have if you want a game that's easy to understand and play for your friends, family, or more! I give it a 9 out of 10
