Early Access Review
Gunplay is excellent and time to kill is relatively quick. Weapons feel punchy and deadly, even the starting ones. Endless customization as well. Score streaks exist but they're all within reason, reminding me quite of a bit of the older CoD titles before it all went downhill.

I've noticed a few audio and visual bugs, but no crashes whatsoever. Performance isn't terrible, nor is it great, but the game is still in early access and I'm sure they'll continue to optimize it. They did just fix a number of audio issues last week which people seemed to point out in prior reviews as their biggest gripe. That's promising.

It will eventually be FTP in a few months, but I'd say it's worth the $15 to hop in now, especially if you're still reeling from the mess that is 2042. This scratches the itch a little better than the last few BF titles anyway.

Multiplayer Review

Here we are again. That old saying, how'd it go? Another day, another entry into the Call of Duty franchise?

I remember when CoD first came out, playing UO on my PC, totally enthralled. I played Descent and AOE for years, and although MoH was probably my first "realistic" shooter, CoD was something special. Then CoD 2 hit with the 360. Everyone had it. Every last one of my friends had it, and playing a WWII shooter on Live was awesome; this was back in a time where being able to communicate in real time with strangers all over the world in a video game was still quite new. What a weird community it was. Admittedly, I probably sunk most of my time into Halo 2, but I remember CoD 2 fondly and probably lost a year or two of my life to both of them.

Then there was CoD 3. We'll pretend that didn't happen.

MW, all bets were off. Hands down the greatest FPS I've ever played and probably will ever play. I know everyone seems to praise MW2, but if you're an OG CoD player, you know that isn't true. WaW was solid, but I remember thinking something felt a little off. Black Ops felt like a step in the right direction, and then MW2 missed the mark, in my opinion. BO2 again missed the mark, and I gave up on the series after that. If this all sounds familiar to you, this newest title is something you ought to be interested in.

While CoD: WWII isn't taking us back to the legendary days of MW or CoD 2, it's an excellent attempt. Scorestreaks aren't insanely prevalent or overpowered like they felt in the last handful of titles. There isn't any wall running, jetpacks, or whatever else. This is, honest to Christ, very similar to WaW in gunplay while the game plays very much like a reskinned BO1. There's a nice deal of progression, no pay-to-win mechanics, and an assload of personalization options.

As for the folks complaining about rampant hackers, I've only run into two so far at around 15 hours. Even if you do run into one, just quit out and join a different lobby. Not a big deal, and it's nowhere near as bad as these Steam reviews make it out to be.

Frankly, I can't understand why this game isn't more popular. Sledgehammer did a phenomenal job in bringing CoD back to its roots, and that's incredibly exciting for me as someone who felt forced to write the whole series off seven years ago. If you miss those original CoD titles, pick this game up. If you still hate it, refund it (and I genuinely believed I'd be refunding it, too). WWII has me pleasantly surprised. I can't believe it.

9/10

Edit: It's worth noting that the played time listed next to all reviews here are representative of singleplayer campaign, not multiplayer.

I'm one of the many coming to OKAM from the Mount and Blade: Warband mod cRPG. Although the mod is totally dead now, I'm still one of the 15 or so NA admins for those servers and have been since roughly 2012. It was a decently sized community of loyal and active players dating all the way back to its release. I'm very fond of cRPG, Mount and Blade, and the combat system developed by them. Most all of us are, and I state that confidently.

OKAM is a deviation from tried and true. While their combat mechanics are interesting, they're clunky. Both attacking and blocking are controlled by the same left mouse button. Movement feels like a mixture between MS and a 1990's Dodge Caravan in wet cement. The main menu music is wonderful, but the in-game sound effects are currently atrocious.

The developers, Donkey Crew, did a wonderful job in respect to graphical detail, and for an alpha game, I haven't run into many major hiccups. This has surprised me; it does seem quite stable. But, if it's meant to be a game, it needs to be fluid. While they very well may work this out in Alpha and Beta, OKAM currently appears to be in pre-pre-pre alpha, or so I hope.

If you're interested in picking this game up, consider waiting awhile. Remember that many of the new reviews being posted are likely coming from behind the rose-tinted glasses of former cRPG players. I do have hope for OKAM, but I strongly advise those of you interested in the game to hold off a bit and check back later. Please do keep an eye on their website and stay up to date with the game's progress!

Edit: Keybind support was added.

Hurtworld, while being in Alpha, runs phenomenally well. Gameplay is smooth with minor kinks being worked out every couple weeks. The devs are very responsive to community feedback while not bending to the whims of upset tweens who seem to believe their opinions are weighted more heavily than others, and battlemu1e (a member of the dev team) has hopped into Official servers recently asking for player feedback and help addressing current latency issues in isolated zones. Each week, expect a dev blog where the developers outline what they've been busy with during the workweek and plan to implement soon.

Great dev team, great game, and a mostly friendly community. I can see my free time dwindling away for months and months to come. 10/10. Join the fun!

Edit as of April 6, 2016:
Where do we start? It seems /r/Hurtworld is the best place. The developers abandoned their subreddit roughly a month ago after a number of upset teens posted mean things to them. It seems they've also mostly abandoned the Steam forums, not to mention their Facebook and Twitter. The developers' interaction with the community has come to a screeching halt, Official servers rarely see more than 10 people online at any given moment, there hasn't been a content update in over two months, and, just a few days ago, when the Official EU West server went down, it took them two full days to reboot it.

I had a huge amount of trust in the developers at first, but that's mostly all out the window. Not to say Hurtworld doesn't run smoothly and play well (it does), but I'd strongly recommend holding on to your cash before eagerly handing it to Bankroll. Give it a few months and check back. Perhaps an update will show up before too long, but this EA game is developing too slowly even for the most patient of us. And trust me, we've been patient.
