The reason why I started the yakuza/like a dragon series was because I had an interest for this game particularly and they nailed it OUT of the park, this game is simply phenomenal. The gameplay is WAY better then like a dragon (Y7), the story is better paced and the jobs were more interesting and wayyyy more varied, it feels like there is ACTUAL strategy going on although I still think the game is overall easier the Y7 but honestly it could be because of the new movement system and other stuff that you can do in battle now.

Man some of these story beats hit REALLY different and the ending was just incredible. I still think Y7 has the best ending to any of the yakuza games (heck one of the best endings ever tbh) but this game still did a fantastic job. What a game. I love Itchy balls and the dude that erased his name.

This game had me hooked from the first chapter to the very end. The Characters are the star of the show and are all very loveable and interesting, The combat is VERY fun and addicting and the new turn based system is pretty well executed which shocks me as it is RGG first turn based game in Like a dragon. Also the absurd difficulty spike for THAT fight in chapter 12 was PEAK, I could not be happier by how they executed things.

I am surprised to say this but I love Ichiban almost as much as Kiryu which feels like a crime to say but man the characters are just THAT good. Glory to Ichiban.

This is by far the most ambitious game RGG made at the time and it shows, although the combat is worse mainly because of Kiryu new fighting style (ESPECIALLY the downgraded finishing holds) this game has voice acting for all side quests, had an insane plot that damn near rivals 0 and the ending made me drop a tear. This is the wrap up for my goat Kiryu and gotta say he is my fav Main character in a video game ever. What a legend and a perfect send off for the Dragon of Dojima.

Yakuza 5 is the most ambitious Yakuza game I've played up so far and I really don't think the other games later will be like it.

Kiryu is at his peak here and is also VERY broken since bounding throws don't take heat anymore. Why did they do this you may ask? I can't even tell you.
Saejima throws are absurd in the best way possible.
Haruka was fun.
Shinada was an amazing broke person simulator.
and MY GLORIUS KING AKIYAMA is in the game, he is so cool and makes me happy.

The game is long around 50 hours of build-up leading into a shorter final stretch. It can feel slow at times (especially Saejima ♥♥♥♥ ass snow area), but the payoff works because of that time spent with the characters. I will say tho THIS game will definitely have you burnt out for a good while.

The Greatest DLC Ever Made

I haven't made a review like this since expedition 33 but this is VERY much worthy of it, words can't describe how exceptional this expansion was!

This is not just a simple "DLC".

This is a full-blown masterpiece pretending to be an expansion. Somehow Blood and Wine gave me one of the best RPG experiences I’ve ever had, and I still can’t believe this was after heart of stone which to me was PERFECT too.

Story – 10/10
From the moment Geralt arrives in Toussaint, the game immediately feels different. Beautiful on the surface, but underneath there’s darkness, tragedy, and mystery brewing. The investigation into the Beast had me hooked from start to finish, and the twists surrounding Dettlaff, Syanna and Anna Henrietta were incredible.

And then the game hits you with The Land of a Thousand Fables and I just sat there thinking… YOUR TELLING ME THIS IS IN THE SAME DLC TOO?! Absolute insanity.

Characters – 10/10
The characters in this expansion are phenomenal. Regis might genuinely be one of the best companions in gaming ever. His dialogue, wisdom, and friendship with Geralt was masterfully written.

And then there’s Dettlaff… what a character. Tragic, terrifying, complex. Not just a villain, but a genuinely fascinating character. Even Syanna and Anna Henrietta, despite all their flaws, felt layered and believable. Nobody feels one-dimensional, as is usually the case in The Witcher 3.

Music – 10/10
The soundtrack is magical and fairy tale-like. Toussaint’s themes feel majestic, almost dreamlike, and is genuinely one of the best open world soundtracks ever, heck I even prefer it to Skellige which was originally my fav in gaming, masterpiece is all I can say. Also the darker tracks hit hard when the story turns grim.

And the music during the Dettlaff fight?!

Absolute cinema.

Combat – 10/10
Witcher 3’s combat was already great, very slow at first and felt kinda "clunky" but when u start upgrading your skill tree you become a literal beast, and then Blood and Wine gave me even more reason to love it. New mutations completely changed how I played Geralt and opened up so many broken and fun builds like the one shot freeze-shock 400%ish percent Ard (it could be more I just can't be asked to calculate it haha), so much wild stuff I'm sure I haven't even touched yet!

And the boss fights? They are ALL fantastic.

ESPECIALLY the final boss, I squealed like I was the one taking damage, gives me HEAVYYYY god of war 3 Zeus fight and it was PURE PEAK.

World / Content – 10/10
Toussaint might be one of the best regions ever made in an RPG.

It is after all "The land of Fairy Tale" and looks SOOO stunning I took MANY screenshots in my travels. It’s packed with monsters, secrets, side quests, contracts, treasure hunts, and some of the best optional content in the entire game. Somehow even the side quests feel premium and made me laugh and enjoy alot, especially my first quest where you have to find the statue missing balls, I laughed so hard and the whole questline was great.

This expansion has more quality than some full-priced games. Heck it took me over 50 hours to see most of it and i haven't even finished all it offers (missing one quest cuz I was underleveled originally but I'm doing it right now).

Ending – 10/10
And that ending… Seeing Geralt finally get a sense of peace after everything felt genuinely emotional. especially when he looked at the camera for the final shot (for us the players) It felt earned. It felt like the perfect sendoff.

Final Verdict – 10/10
This is not just one of the greatest expansions ever made.

This is one of the greatest RPG experiences ever made.

Story, characters, music, bosses, world design, content… it excels in everything.

CD Projekt Red really made a DLC that casually outclasses entire games.

If you love RPGs, BY ALL MEANS this is a must play, it does it all.

Story is insanely good. It is dark, gritty and had me shook the entire time. But let’s talk about HIM. “Do you really wish to know?” while staring right at us, the players? Yeah, no. Instant chills. Gaunter O’Dimm is the only character in gaming that made me sit up straight like he could see me through the screen. I was making dialogue choices like my real soul was on the line. Such an insane DLC. 10/10 would Witcher again.
