Armored Core 6 was for me the "Black Sheep" of FROMSOFTWARE games.
I was very much used to the standard approach of "anything works as long as you are good enough", which I did to complete, DS3, Elden Ring and Sekiro.
However, this game throws this out of the window and tells you very directly that you need to adapt to each battle with the help of different weapons and Mech-Components.
It took me a while to get used to it and Balteus is probably the first real challenge that I had to overcome in the game, which feels like a trivial fight after 4 playthroughs of the game.
Armored Core 6 is best described as a continuously spinning coin, as it has both good and bad qualities, of which you experience enough of in the game to the point where you want to slam dunk your own face into the table.
The Good:
-Super Responsive Combat, Weapons feel really nice, esspecially the Bazookas
-Some really fun NPCs (G1 Michigan, V.IV Rusty) that make the interactions with the world almost enjoyable
-The Story isnt explained through item descriptions so that you dont have to watch 30 minute documentaries on YouTube
-Getting the Achievements isnt a soulless grind
-Second Ending in the game is very emotional and hits you in the gut
The Bad:
-Little to no explaination as to what the stats on your gear do (when you press F to expand you get hit with more stats)
-The Majority of NPCs have that "Im him" attitude just to disappointingly die fast or be super worthless to the progression of the story (also V.II Snail just being an annoying little sh*t, yes its by design i know)
-Bosses that are placed just to "weed out" worse players
-Stagger Bar is overtuned and also feels really bad when you get into gank fights and are stun locked into mutiple staggers - same when doing it to a Bossfights, it makes it super easy

Overall the game does take an adjustment period, but its clumsiness does have a certain charm to it. Its Bad and Good, Good and Bad and i think thats what makes me return to it from time to time. I just wish the game was longer, and even with the full 3 playthroughs, the game leaves a sensation of emptiness and eagerness to learn about the world and Rubicon.
I think this is where the game blundered for sure, which i hope they fix in the next AC games.
