Overwatch 2 if it was fun.

My expectations for this game weren't super high, but I've had a surprising amount of fun wacking this puck into walls. My only complaint is the lack of proper communication, meaning you can't describe your intentions without a premade team, and you can't tell your GOALIE that they're a GOALIE and should DEFEND THE GOAL. (This game can be a tad frustrating, but it's worth it in my opinion)

Before saying anything else, I want to say this: I love this game. It's super unique, and was the only game that really scratched my itch for difficult vr swordplay. Before the most recent update, while certain characters were definitely better than others, they all felt like unique characters with unique and fun gameplay, despite the game's rough edges.

As of the most recent update, all of the things I loved about the game aren't really there anymore, and the things I wasn't a fan of were made worse. It's not a game about sword fighting, it's a game about dancing and seeing who gets the most points. While Tyrant used to be overpowered, now they're terrible. Samurai has gone frame #2 to LITERALLY THE ONLY OPTION. The only good change is that Persian's awakening works much better now. The awakening cap makes certain characters feel completely worthless, and the speed limit for edge breaker has made this cool ability feel stale and clunky. It doesn't feel worth it to go for body shots with anyone other than Samurai or Knight because you lose your entire health bar if you mess it up. Ping is also a huge player, because nothing functions correctly when those numbers are high. And they are ALWAYS high.

This review isn't something I'm writing to discourage people from buying the game, it's more of a cry of help to the devs. Please change the awakening system, and maybe find a work around for the ping problems (if that is possible). If you are reading this and you aren't a dev, wait a month or two. Hopefully none of my complaints will be valid by then.

Update: The game feels way better now! The awakening caps have been significantly improved and the ping is better as well! Tyrant is playable again, (assuming you use legendary, but main/legacy are fine) but I'm still too scared to play too many matches with my baby boy because if I lose my elo will tank. Hard.

I cannot recommend this game enough. The music is incredible, the levels are fun, and it doesn't quite take itself seriously but is still serious in some ways. 9.5/10
