The west marches is a particular style of playing DnD that makes it easier to incorporate a large group of potential players and their schedules.

Some of the primary difference from a 'typical' DnD camapign are:

• No fixed schedule. Games can be organised by the group members for any day and time, assuming the DM is free/happy to play.
  
• No fixed Party. It's likely that the party will change most sessions. Players can take part as little or as much as they like/have time for.
  
• There is no fixed plot line. The players decide where to go and what to do. It's just an everchanging environment for players to explore.
