The Unbroken Saga

In Unbroken, there is but one timeline. There are no divulging paths, yet nothing is set in stone. The one timeline is veiled and obscured by a sort of "web" of false timelines. These false timelines, mere distorted reflections of the one true timeline, act as a sort of diversion, helping to confuse the Chalidrytes that would reclaim the true timeline in the name of their Agnaren masters.
The true timeline has existed since before the universe as we know it, hearkening back to the primordial aeons in which the Agnaren lorded over existence. When the previous universe housing these Agnaren "died of natural causes," the remains coalesced over the course of billions of years. The fragments of the old universe reunited as a powerful consciousness; this was the original Singularity, known as Zaarthren. Zaarthren first exercised his power by creating a new universe to inhabit now-empty time, and as the timeline carried on, other Singularities came into existence to accompany him in his new experiment.

From outside of time and space, the Singularities forged a new realm: a distorted home within the aether called High Singularium. From there, they ruled and oversaw, interfering indirectly with the course of life and observing the results. The universe blossomed under the stewardship of the Singularities. The planted the seeds that would sprout into rudimentary life, spreading it sparsely across their new existence. From their mighty palaces in High Singularium, they beheld from outside of time itself as time passed on.

Through the millennia, the Singularities warred and debated with one another over many a subject, including how advanced mortal life was to be dealt with and what level of intervention into the ongoings of the universe was appropriate. When all was reconciled and the pieces had fallen, the philosophies of Zaarthren reigned supreme; the Singularities were to merely observe as their creation grew and unfolded, carving its own path through time much as those within it carved their own paths through it.

Though all was now relatively peaceful within the domain of the Singularities, something else stirred. Scourges from the past, the Agnaren, foresaw and gave prophecies of the end of their own universe, trapped within the bounded coil of time passed. Prognostications of doom whispered in hushed tones urged them on to send forth their weapons: the Chalidrytes. The Chalidrytes used their incredible power to defy linear time as we know it, manifesting themselves into the future universe of the Singularities. Zaarthren and his kin swiftly took note of this as they alarmedly watched the Chalidrytes go about their task of “cleansing” the universe, destroying all they see in preparation for the return of their masters.

It was then that Zaarthren broke his code of non-interference, deploying his demi-Singularity servants into the universe aboard what may be the first space vessel in the existence of the Singularities' universe: the Abiogenesis, or “Elder Vessel” as it would be referred to in the future. Equipped with fearsome and mighty weapons of unimaginable destructive power, the Abiogenesis was cast into the universe and swiftly removed the Chalidryte threat.

However, this would not be enough. Zaarthren understood that the Agnaren would continue to unleash their cleansing plague into the universe ad infinitum—unless something was done to prevent them from doing so. Rather than continuing with the endless campaign to purge the Chalidrytes, Zaarthren recalled the Abiogenesis to High Singularium. It was then that Zaarthren called upon his ancient power to manipulate the celestial, and stood atop his fane in High Singularium. As he looked out into the intricate weave of space-time, he could see the manifestation of time itself. From there, Zaarthren chose to obscure the timeline by cocooning it in a reflection of itself. The Singularity used his power to project facsimile timelines that veiled the true timeline from the view of the Agnaren and Chalidrytes, creating a multiplex web of variations on the original timeline.

Now, when the Agnaren and Chalidrytes look out into space-time to invade the future, all they see is a complex web. This confuses and disorients the dying beings, who understand time as a single, unbending line. They do not understand that this line yet exists—hidden behind a veil of false time that they could never hope to transfix. The tentacles of the Chalidrytes have yet to scratch the surface of the mesh of projections that conceals their target—a target that dwells just beneath the mire, unbeknownst to them.

Rather, it was unbeknownst to them...until now. The Agnaren and Chalidrytes have finally begun to comprehend the illusion that had kept them exiled from Zaarthren's creation. Now, the haze has been pierced through and the Chalidrytes have returned, rekindling the inferno of a once-dormant cosmic doorway: the CM/XI Boundary. The tentacles of the blight now writhe through the Boundary; an imperfection, a hole, in the intertwined fabrics of the web of false time. Through this hole, the Agnaren can launch their invasion anew. How the Boundary manifested remains a matter of debate and speculation; some suggest the Boundary appeared with the natural decay of certain false timelines, while others postulate that certain, malicious Singularities may have intentionally tore a hole in the web, creating the Boundary and allowing a path through the web.

Now, a primordial struggle that transcends time as mortals know it has been resurrected. The battle lines have been drawn once more, and the divine make war not only for their own fate, but for the fate of celestial totality. No longer do the hands within the frimament lay idle...and the mortal must avoid their crushing grasp.
