The automatic kick settings are set at default and have always been at default, which I believe is at 15mins of inactivity. We don't manually kick people for being AFK, and we don't have the bloody time nor care to monitor every connection to see if people are moving or not. More likely if anyone experienced a "kick" from the server (that wasn't caused by an admin...and those aren't usually kicks but bans) it was either because the server rebooted, or your connection dropped, or ARK, being a beta game, did something stupid.

As for gear lost, well, one it's a beta game, and two, either lock it in a vault or accept that it might be lost when you wander around with it. If you're not eaten, or get killed in a fall or something, you could fall through any of the numerous map glitches that exist in ARK. And that's not counting being killed in PVP and having your shit taken, or a server glitch that kicks everyone off.

I got kicked from you server for being afk for 5 minutes and lost all my gear. no bag no nothing. the armour wasn't a big deal but i lost my Ascendent Crossbow, and Mastercraft Pick, Axe, Pike, and Scythe. I know you probably cant outright give me the stuff back but can i at least know why i would have been kicked after 5 min of afk?

We had the server host bump up the server Proc specs a bit. The Center is basically an unfinished map (rumors of a new version in the next month or so) and may not be completely optimized, so there's not much we can do about that.

So we had some issues with the server and had to do a slight roll-back. Should not have affected anyone majorly since we rolled back to about 2minutes before the server crashed...so if you were on, you lost 2mins of work/foraging/larking/whatever. You'll get over it. :P

The bad news is we had to remove the current mod (Doors) and are investigating the cause of the problems. Stay tuned for the return on that. :)

The server admin is looking into it, but mentioned that the bases that have been raided seemed to have no defenses whatsoever, which is a problem in of itself. Just because a tribe/player is set to PVE (by signs or name label) doesn't mean trolls won't bother them. Since we can't take action -before- something happens, it is prudent to have at least some level of defenses up.

Even a wall and some spikes can help deter a casual troller looking for a soft target. With the taming settings on the server it should be easy to also tame up a group of guard dinos. Dimorphodons, big-foots, trikes, wolves, argents, all make great defense animals in pre-turret levels. Once you can make a large crop plot you should be getting those plant turrets up.
